To Whom It May Concern,
I performed the Reinforcing Calculations based on ACI 318.
ACI 318 7.12.2.1, Shrinkage and Temperature Reinforcement calls for a ratio of 0.0020
for the type of steel called out. On my calculations, that will/are be submitted, the ratio
of steel is 0.0020 for the slab and 0.0027 for the walls and therefore meets the above
code. No mention of two layers of steel is contained in this code section.
ACI 318 14.3, Walls. Minimum Reinforcement calls for the same ratio as 7.12.2.1 and
therefore does not need to be shown on calculations. Walls more than 10 inches thick
require two layers of reinforcement. The pool walls are 9 inches thick.
I believe that addresses any potential concerns detailed in the calculations and should not
be any issues with these sections of ACI 318.
