IN SOUND SURFACES SUCH AS CONCRETE, 2" THICK N TBUDCi0NG BRICK, AND
BRICK MORTARED TO CONCRETE: Holes are d fled in the deck Mace to a depth neoessary
to accommodate the fence posts_ These holes are sleeved with plastic sleeves_
IN "UNSOUND" SURFACES SUCH AS I" "SAND SETA BRICK PAVERS Holes are
drilled into the pavers to acx:ept 1 118" or 1 W OD aluminum tubing or similar suitable
metal material or 1' or 1 %," PVC pipe of sufficient length to extend below the paver or
ground surface necessary to provide adequate support to the hence. Pipe length
necessary for adequate support will depend upon the hardness of the ground or sand bed
below grade. Typically this is W4r when using aluminum pipe for sand set Is thick brick
paver patios where the sand bed has been thoroughly compacted. and 187- 24" for
grass and soli applications.
GRASS AND SOIL: 110 or 1 W OD aluminum tubing or smear suitable material such
as 1"or 1 %i SCH 40 or SCH 80 PVC pipe of sufficient length is driven into the ground to
a depth necessary to provide adequate support to the fence. Pipe length necessary for
adequate support will depend upon the hardness of the ground and must be determined
in the field. Typically this is 18'°2,C depending upon ground hardness and material used.
V PVC pipe requires pouring concrete around it to stabilize it.
WOOD DECKS; Wood decks using 2X lumber can be drilled normally and fencing
installed in the normal manner using standard plastic sleeves amuming the wood is in
good condition. Any wood in less than good shape. thinner than 2x thickness, or not
Installed solidly will require an installation similar to the Sand Set Brick application listed
above using the tubing to extend into a solid surface below. Otherwise, the wood should
be reinforoed underneath with an additional block of wood screwed or nailed to the top
surface to allow a thicker mounting surface.
