by Florida Building Code (FBC) Section 201.1 for the area covered by the roofing permit
referenced above and further state that the re- nailing of the sheathing meets the
requirements of the current edition of the Florida Building Code sections FBC Section
201.1. Nail spacing shall be 6 (six) inches on enter at panel edges, 6(six) inches on
center at intermediate supports, and where applicable 4 (four) inches on center over
gable ends and sub fascia. Existing fasteners may be utilized to achieve such minimum
spacing. I also certify that a secondary water barrier that meets the requirements of
F.B.C. Section 201.2 been achieved and hereby provide the accompany photos for

with Testing Application. Standards TAS -106 and the Florida Building Code High Velocity Hurricane Zone on March 27, 2014
at the above referenced project. The purpose of our inspection was to determine the uplift capacity of the roof tiles for the
residence at the above referenced project
The subject roof consisted of S Shaped Clay Tile Foam Set. The pitch of the subject roof is 4/12. Our field engineer visited the
site and conducted 58 uplift tests on the roof tiles. All tests were performed according to the Florida Building Code High
Velocity Hurricane Zone and protocol TAS -106 using an Intercomp Scale Model CS200.. The following is a summary of

All test results were found to be in compliance with TAS -106 and the Florida Building Code
The test results are limited to the tested areas. If other roof areas exhibit different conditions, it should be brought to our
attention for remedial work. This uplift test is not a roof top inspection. A final roof inspection must be conducted by the
building official for approval. The test results presented reflect the condition of the roof system at the time of the test, These
results are time and sample dependent since roof conditions are continuously changing due to exposure to the elements.

affiliated with our client nor do we have any financial interest in the project or determination of the test results. As mutual

REQUIRED OWNERS NOTIFICATION FOR ROOFING CONSIDERATIONS
1 524.1 Scope. As it pertains to this section, it is the responsibility of the rooting contractor to provide the
owner with the required roofing permit, and to explain to the owner the content of this section. The
provisions of Chapter 15 of the Floridan Mdfrtg Code; B aiding govt the minimum requirements and
standards of the industry for raoftng system installations. Additionally, the fallowing item stmuld be
addressed as part of the agreement between the owner and the contractor. The owner's initials in the
des ed space Indicates that the item has been explained.
1. Aesthetk:s- workmanship: The workmanship provisions of Chapter 15 (High- Velocity Hurricane
Zone( are for the purpose of providing the rooting system meets the wind resistance and wafer
intrusion performance standards. Aesthetics (appearance) are not a consideration with respect
to workmansltlp provisions. Aesthetic issues such as color or architectural appearance, oxg are
not part of a zoning code should be addressed as part of ttre agreement between the owner
and the contractor.
2. Renaft wood decks: When replacing roofing, the existing wood roof deck many have to be
renadled in accordance with current provisions of Chapter 16 (High - Velocity Hurricane Zones)
of the Florida Bufting Code, lrrg. )The roof deck is usually concealed prior to Removing the
existing roof system.)
A+j & Compton roots: Common roofs are those which have no visible delineation between neighbofing
units (te., townhouses, condominiums. etc.). In buildings with common roofs, the roofing contractor
and /or owner should notify the occupants of adjacent units of roofing work to be performed.
4. Exposed ce fts: 6tposed, open beam ceilings are where the underside of the roof decking can
be viewed from below. The owner may wish to maintain the arcHtecturd appearance, therefore,
roofing nail penetrations of the underside of the decking may not be acceptable. The owner
provides the option of maintaining this appearance.
5. Ponding water: The current roof system and /or deck of the building may not drain well and may
cause water to pond (accumulate) in low-lying areas of the roof. Fonding can be an Indication
of structural distress and may require the review of a professional structural engineer. Ponding may
shorten the Ufa expectancy and performance of the new rooting system. Ponding conditionrs may
not be evident until the original roofing system Is removed. Ponding conditions should be
corrected.
6. Ovefpa►w scuppers (wall outietsk It is required that rainwater flow off so that the roof Is not
overloaded from a b of water. Perimeter /edge walls or other roof extensions may block this
discharge it overflow uppers wag outlets) are not provided. It may be necessary to install
overflow scuppers i accordance with the requirements of Chapters i6 and 16 herein and the

7. Ventilation: Most r f structures should have some ability to vent natural airflow through the
interior of the ral assembly (the building itself). The existing amount of attic ventilation shall
not be reduced. r

3.2 For mortar or adhesive set We applications, a static field uplift test shall be performed in accordance with
TAS 106.
3.3 Applicant shall retain the services of a Miami Dade County Certified Laboratory to perform quarterly test
in accordance with TAS 112, appendix W. Such testing shall be submitted to the Miami -Dade Product
Control Office for review.
3.4 Minimum underlayment shall be in compliance with the applicable Roofing Applications Standards listed
section 4.1 herein.
3.5 30/90 hot mopped undedayment applications may be installed popendicular to the roof slope unless stated
o6a%vise by the underlayment material manufacturers published literature.
3.6 This acceptance is for wood deck applications. Minimum deck requirements shall be in compliance with
applicable building code.
3.7 All products listed herein shall have a quW* assuraAce audit in accordance with the Florida Building
Code and Rule 9N-3 of the Florida Administrative Code.
3.8 May be installed on slopes 7:12 and greater.
4. INSTALLATION
4.1 Altusa `5' Clay Roof Tile and its components shall. be installed in strict compliance with Roofing
Application Standard RAS 118, RAS 119, and RAS 120.
