Last Tuesday, we called for a "final' building inspection . It is our understanding that even though all of the subsidiary permits are finaled and closed out, the building inspection cannot be done because we also pulled a permit to expand our driveway. This permit # DS -3 -13 -464 is somehow "linked" with the building project It was not possible to perform the driveway project simultaneously with the building work, as our driveway is the only access to the construction site and has been full of dumpsters, concrete trucks and service vans. We would appreciate your consideration for two things, if possible. First , can someone from the building Dept. come out and perform an inspection of the garage conversion so no one will need to get back into the interior of the house, with the understanding that the permit # RC -12 -11 -2369 "final' will not be closed out until the driveway permit # DS -3 -13 -464 is also finaled? Lastly, we need to extend both permits to allow us time to get the driveway done, now that the house is done. I picked up the plans and went to the Heath Dept. and filled out the submission forms. Some weeks later, I was advised the plans were refused , as the Heath Dept stated our drainfield was too small ( 340 Sq, IL ) . We produced a copy of our contract with Rota- Rooter , stating the new drainfield we just paid them to install was 87s sq. ft. We were advised by the heath dept. that the subcontractor that was hired by Roto- rooter only pulled a permit for, and installed a 300 sq. ft. drainfleld. We went back to Roto-Rooter and they advised us the subcontractor they hired was out of business and there was nothing they could do. We in turn took legal action against Rota Rooter. Ultimately, Rota Rooter agreed to correct the situation and expand the draWfled. It took months for their permit request to be approved by the health dept. and even longer for them to accomplish the task. Ultirnately, after all of the new work was completed and Inspected, we were able to re submit the plans back Into the health depth and then on to DERM.
