Please be advised that I have developed the attached SP -1A.1 drawing for the
referenced property to reflect my calculations for the water retention required to contain
the first 1" of rain on this property.
The overall calculations are shown in tabular form on the sheet and are identified as
Drainage Plan and Calculations. I have shown a number of swale areas which will cover
a portion of the total required. The swale areas provide retention for 6,110 square feet
of the property. The balance of the retention, 5730 square feet, will be covered by the
installation of a French drain in the rear yard, as shown.
The 5,730 square feet equates to 477 cubic feet of water, using the one inch depth..
One hundred fifty -two feet of 24" diameter perforated pipe (152') equates to 477 cubic
feet of water volume (3.1417 cubic feet per foot).
In addition, I am using a 3' wide by 3'-6" deep trench for the pipe installation, with the
bottom 3' to contain #57 crushed rock fill and the 24" diameter pipe. One linear foot of
the trench provides for 5.85 cubic feet of #57 crushed rock, which provides for an
additional 1.2 cubic feet of water retention per foot (based on a 20% void factor), or a
total of 178 cubic feet of water over and above that required for code compliance.
Based on my calculations, I am comfortable certifying that the site will retain the required
first one inch of rain water.
Please feel free to conta me with any questions at the phone shown below. Thank you
for your cooperatgglL

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Based on my personal observations of the soil conditions at the referenced site, I am
here -by stating that the existing soil meets the 2,000 pounds per square foot design
pressure used for the perimeter retaining wall design and construction details, which
were provided under separate cover as attachments to the permit drawings.
Please feel free to ntact me with any questions at the phone shown below. Thank you
