This testing was performed in general accordance with Roofing Application Standard TAS No.106 -- Standard procedure for field verification of the bonding of mortar or adhesive set tile system and mechanically attached, rigid, discontinuous roof systems. The total of the tested roof surface area was less than 10000 square feet, and the mean height of the roof is less than 40 feet above ground surface. The type of the used for this project was reported to be Hanson Regal Spanish "S" Roof Tile. This tile was reported to have been foamed in place. At the time of our inspection, the entire area of the roof was examined for loose tiles. Not less than one (1) tile in ten (10) of all components in the field area and one (1) tile in five (5) of all tiles in the perimeter and comer areas were physically examined. A minimum of one (1) test per every two (2) squares in the field, one (1) test per square in the perimeter area, ridge caps and (1) in the comer areas were conducted. As it pertains to the section, it is the responsibility of roofing contractor to provide the owner with the required roofing permit, and to explain to the owner the content of the section. The provisions of Section R4402 govem the minimum requirements and standards of the industry for roofing system installations. Additionally, the following items should be addressed as part of the agreement between the owner ant the contra • r. The owners initial in the designated space indicates that the item has been explained. 1. 411 Aesthetics - Workmanship: the workmanship provisions of Section R4402 are for the purpose of proo , ng that the roof system meets the wind resistance and water instruction performance standards. Aesthetics (appearance) are not a consideration with respect to workmanship provisions. Aesthetic issues such as.color or architectural appearance, that are not part of a zoning code, should be addressed as part of the . reement between the owner and the contractor. 2. , Renailing wood decks: When replacing roofing, the existing wood roof deck may have to be renailed in accordance with the current provisions of Section R4403. (The roof deck is usually concealed prior to re oving the existing roof system). 3. Y Common roofs: Common roofs are those which have no visible delineation between neighboring units i.e., townhouses, condominiums, etc.) In buildings with common roofs, the roofing contractor and /or owner hould notify the occupants of adjacent units of roofing to be performed. 4. '' Exposed Ceiling: Exposed, open beam ceilings are where the underside of the roof decking can be viewed from below. The owner may wish to maintain the architectural appearance; therefore, roofing nail penetration of the underside of the decking may not be acceptable. This provides the option of maintaining the appe - - nce. 5. Ponding water: The current roof system and/or deck of the building may not drain well and may cause water to pond (accumulate) in low -lying areas of the roof. Pounding can be an indication of structural distress and may require the review of a professional structural engineer. Pounding may shorten the life expectancy and performance of the new roofing system. Pounding conditions may not be evident until the origin roofing system is removed. Pounding conditions should be corrected. 6. Overflow scuppers (wall outlets): It is required that rainwater flows off so that the roof is not overloaded from a buildup of water. Perimeter /edge wall or other roof extension may block this discharge if overflow scuppers (wall outlets) are not provided. It may be necessary to install overflow scuppers in accord ce with the requirements of Sections R4402, R4403 and R4413. . - ir Ventilation: Most roof structures should have some ability to vent natural airflow through the inte .f the structure assembly (the building itself). The existing amount of attic ventilation shall not be reduced. It may be beneficial consider additional venting which can result in extending the service life of.the 1% k of. i er /Agent's Sign a r at Contractor Signature Date Revised on 7/9/2009 LD DEPARTMENT OF PERMITTING, ENVIRONMENT, AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS (PERA) BOARD AND CODE ADMINISTRATION DIVISION NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE (NOA) Lomanco, Inc. 2101 West main Street Jacksonville, AR 72076 MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PRODUCT CONTROL SECTION 11805 SW 26 Street, Room 208 Miami, Florida 33175 -2474 T (786) 315 -2590 F (786) 315 -2599 www.miamidade.gov/nera SCOPE: This NOA is being issued under the applicable rules and regulations governing the use of construction materials. Cutout: At chosen location (see Lomanco's instructions for proper placement) and centered between two roof rafters, cut a 12" diameter hole through shingles and sheathing boards. Seal around top and sides of hole with approved roofing cement. Installation: Determine roof pitch in compliance with Lomanco's instructions and align roof pitch number on elbow with indicator line on flashing. Place three short screws through holes that line up with pre - drilled holes in base. Place mounting base unit flat on the shingles on its flashing, and coat underside of base flashing with roofmg cement. In its pitch - adjusted position, carefully slide upper half of flashing up roof beneath shingles previously rolled back until base is centered over cutout. Rolling back the shingles where necessary, and rechecking pitch setting for vertical alignment, secure the base unit to the roof deck with a minimum of fourteen ring shank roofing nails, equally spaced, approximately 1/4' from edge of base per detail drawing "Base ". Nails shall be of sufficient length to penetrate through roof sheathing a minimum of /2 ". Apply roofing cement to underside of shingles overlapping flashing, and press them down onto the flashing. Nail down flashing not covered by shingles ' /2" to 1" from outer edge with equally spaced ring shank roofing nails. Rotate top of elbow to level position by turning counterclockwise. Place locking clamp across seam and tighten as shown in Lomanco's instructions with approved sheet metal screw. Seal all seams and nails with approved roofing cement. Position whirlybird on the base. Line up the pre -drilled holes in the brackets and base and fasten with approved long sheet metal screws. After installation, verify that whirlybird turns freely. If necessary, minor adjustment may be made by gently prying lowest point of turbine upward to remove any wobble. Net Free Area: Refer to manufacturers published literature Note: Apply roofing cement to seal all exposed flashing edges and seams.
