This action is due to the following: 1) The work performed at our home was not done by you, nor an employee of your company. Instead it was done by Ulises Moraton, an unlicensed plumber. 2) Mr. Moraton completed the rough plumbing work (a rough inspection was completed). However, a portion of the work was not done correctly and had to be repaired by another licensed plumber. Namely, all the plumbing for the roman tub bath had to be replaced (the existing lines were leaking, causing damage to the newly plastered ceiling in the ground floor); one of the lines in the master bath lavatory was left leaking (causing damage to a brand new, custom made cabinet which had to be replaced); various roof vents were damaged (causing several leaks and over $800 in roof repairs). 3) Furthermore, Mr. Moraton provided me with a bill for $810, stating that this is the amount he is owed on his plumbing contract, which totaled $8500; in addition to a separate bill of $280 for additional work completed in the cabana bath (installation of pedestal sink, toilet, lavatory and shower faucets). There is no contract between us and Mr. Moraton, or your company. Any contractual obligations were entered into between Mr. Moraton as the plumbing subcontractor and the contractor, Keith Johnston Construction (the general contractor). Mr. Johnston has informed me that there is no money owed to Mr. Moraton, as evidenced by the attached Proposal provided by Mr. Moraton dated 1/15/10 and signed by Santos Soto - an agent of Keith Johnston Construction - Field Ticket #0019, showing the total cost of the job to be $8,500. On March 15, 2011 Page Two May 6, 2010 I received a signed and notarized lien release from the general contractor, signed by you, stating that $9,020 had been paid as of that date for plumbing services. Therefore we are owed $240 for overpayment, not to mention the cost of repairs to the work done incorrectly by Mr. Moraton. A copy of this letter has been provided to the City of Miami Shores, notifying them of the change of contractor as well as an official report of unlicensed work by Ulises Moraton, using your license.
