To the Official: This letter is written with the inten requested by the contractor and to re At the time of our visit we were aske of our visit to the referenced site as subject matter. insta ion of tension straps for the existing main roof rafters. Our observations re d USP HT36F standard steel straps had been installed as hold down straps for the existing 3x8 roof rafters in the main house. The tie straps were installed with 3- 1/4" dia. x 1 '' /2" long tapcons to the existing tie beam and these had been placed at 3" edge distance and 3" spacing, in addition, at least 6 16d nails were also observed for the strap which was placed over the 3 x 8's. It is our understanding that the straps had been installed at the request of the owner and although these straps do not have Miami Dade County Product Approval, they were installed in general compliance with the individual connectors used. It is also our opinion that the use of these straps as an added measure to resist uplift is adequate and represents and added measure to increase the existing rafter roof resistance to uplift.
