The Village has been notified by Miami -Dade Building & Zoning Department that the above referenced property has a building or structure that requires recertification. Miami -Dade County Chapter 8 Section 8 -11 requires all existing buildings and structures to be recertified at age forty (40) and then subsequently at ten (10) year intervals. Within one hundred and twenty (120) days of receiving the Notice of Required Inspection/Certification, the owner of the building or structure subject to recertification is required to furnish to the Building Official a written report prepared by a Professional Architect or Engineer certifying that each building or structure is structurally and electrically safe, or has been made structurally and electrically safe, along with a $250.00 filing fee. A written report, along with the filing fee, has not been submitted to the Building Official as of the date of this letter; therefore the Village is forced to have the structure declared unsafe. The above - described structure has been found to be unsafe as defined in the provisions of Miami - Dade County Ordinance Section 8 -5. The defects listed on the attached Explanation of Violations have rendered the structure unsafe; the specific details concerning the violation can be obtained in writing from the Building Official on request. In accordance with the provisions of Miami -Dade County Ordinance Section 8 -5, you are directed to correct the violations as ordered by the Building Official and further described on the attached Explanation. Unless there is compliance with the instructions in the Notice of Violation, or an appeal of the Building Official's to the Unsafe Structures Board is filed, a public hearing before the Unsafe Structures Board will be initiated by the Building Official after the time of compliance has expired, or the Building's Official order will be enforced in accordance with the provisions of Miami -Dade County Ordinance Section 8 -5 Subsection (g) (1) without further notice to you. By the provisions of Miami -Dade County Ordinance Section 8 -5 Section (j), you are responsible for all enforcement costs, including appellate processing costs incurred by the Village of Miami Shores.
