This testing was performed in general accordance with Roofing Application Standard TAS No.106 -- Standard procedure for field verification of the bonding of mortar or adhesive set tile system and mechanically attached, rigid, discontinuous roof systems. The total of the tested roof surface area was less than 10000 square feet, and the mean height . of the roof is less than 40 feet above ground surface. The type of tile used for this project was reported to be Lifetile Roof Tile. This tile was reported to have been foamed in place. At the time of this testing, one test for every corner, one test for every 100 square feet of roof the perimeter area and one test for every 200 square feet of roof tile in the field area w Initially the entire area of the roof was examine for loose tile. More than 10% of the in the field area and more than 20% of the roof tile at the roof perimeter and corn examined. At the time of our inspection, the installation of the roof surfacing material had been partially completed. Three roof field test cuts were made. Based on our findings, the followings were found: Flat Roof 1. The roof system consisted of a built -up roof system. The base sheet was noted to have been mechanically attached to the underlaying wood deck. The nailing pattern for the field area was between 6 and 7" o.c. at the side lap and two rows between the side laps between 6 and 8" o.c. The type of fastener used was 1 -1/4" long ring shank nails thru 1 -5/8" tin caps. 2. The nailing pattern for the perimeter /corner areas was between 5 and 7" o.c. at the side lap and six rows between the side laps between 5 and 7" o.c. The type of fastener used was 1- 1/4" long ring shank nails thru 1 -5/8" tin caps. 3. On top of the base sheet, two plies of roofing felts were fully mopped. In some areas, the mineral surfaced cap sheet was also had been applied. The amount of asphalt used was noted to be adequate where the roofing felts were not touching.
