Mr. Vasquez Pursuant to your request, DYNA1'E,CH ENGINEERING CORP. completed a Preliminary .. Subsoil Investigation on September 5, 2006 for the above referenced project. The purpose of our investigation was to verify the subsoil conditions relative to the proposed pool. A total of (2) standard penetration boring tests were performed according to ASTM D -1586 down to an average depth of 20' below existing ground surface. This material must be removed and replaced with compacted gravel prior to pool and deck construction. The above recommendation being achieved and verified, it is our opinion that the proposed pool be designed for a shallow foundation system with a permissible soil bearing pressure not to exceed 2,000 P.S.F. Regardless of the thoroughness of a geotechnical exploration there is always the possibility that conditions may be different from those of the test locations; therefore, DYNA'1'ECH ENGINEERING CORP., does not guarantee any subsoil conditions between the bore test holes. In accepting this report the client understands that all data from the borings are strictly for foundation analysis only and are not to be used for excavation or back filling estimates and pricing. Site contractor must familiarize himself with site conditions prior to bidding. As a mutual protection to clients, the public and ourselves, all reports are submitted as the confidential property of clients, and authorization for publication of statements, conclusions or extracts from or regarding our reports is reserved pending our written approval. All work must be conducted under the supervision of our geotechnical engineer. The discovery of any site or subsurface conditions during construction which deviate from the information obtained from our subsoil investigation is always likely and should be reported to us for our evaluation. • • It Fiae1 een a rleasure serving you at this phase of your project and look forward to do so in the near future. .. • • • Sincerely yours, • • ••• • . • • Wisp dam Naam,• P.E. • DYNA'1;ECH. We Offer Superior Safety in 3 major areas: 1. Our Patented Point Lock Secure Latch'". Our patented Point Lock Secure Latch"" brings a whole new level of safety to removable mesh pool fencing. Each fence section latches together at 10' or 12' intervals. Preventing children from opening the fence at that point is key to maintaining a unified barrier. Gate hook type latches found on most fences merely "hook on" to the eye of the opposing section and are retained by only a simple slide mechanism. Simple upward and back pressure by 1 finger is all it takes for a child to defeat such a latch. In contrast, our patented Point Lock Secure Latchm is comprised of two spring - actuated levers that pass through the eye of the opposing section (A. see photo - >). Once latched, no upward, downward, or "side to side" pressure can release it. ur Patenkec3 Paint - Lock - Secure Latch To completely lock the latch, a jam nut (B.) can be threaded against the levers to prevent them from retraction. Proven effective on thousands of installations for over 10 years, the simplicity, safety, and ease of use of this latch make it the ideal choice for locking fence sections together. And it is crafted from solid stainless steel so rust will never be a problem. i -E. Our Patented Lock -In- Deck"" Feature.. (patent # 5,553,833) Most mesh pool fences are removable by releasing the section latch and lifting the posts out. Most rely upon little more than a tight fit to hold their fences in place and prevent your child from removing them. With our Point Lock Secure Latch we secured the latching portion of the equation. But that wasn't enough. We also wanted a method by which we could lock our fence posts into the patio to prevent removal by children. So we devised our patented Lock In Deck Feature that makes it possible to actually twist lock our fence posts into the patio. Now, even if the fence section were left unlatched, the Lock in Declem feature would prevent removal of the post! The workings of this patented "Lock In DeckT"'" feature combine a post set screw and special grooved sleeve that interact to enable the fence posts to "twist -lock" into the patio. This prevents removal by children or anyone who do not posses the special knowledge necessary to remove it. The Lock in Deck feature gives you added security and is especially important when your toddler has an older brother or sister who might try to open the fence. Although this feature allows our fence to "lock in the deck ", it is still removable by an adult! WHY ISN'T SIMPLE FENCE TENSION ENOUGH? Fence tension depends upon strong, straight posts, a perfect installation; and a fence mesh that doesn't stretch too much. Even then some fences are too tight making them difficult to open and close. But, if they're not tight enough, they might be too easy for your child to operate. All of this depends upon the age and ability of your child. To make matters worse, the variables affecting "proper" fence tension can change with weather and time not to mention your child's age. Only Protect -A- Child's Sure Safe System eliminates the reliance upon this nebulous and inconsistent fence tension requirement. With a superior latch system that does not have to be kept tight to prevent children from pushing it open and posts that twist lock into the patio preventing children from lifting them out, we can offer the safest removable mesh pool fencing available. 3. The strength of our Quad Silt"' Composite Fiberglass Support Posts The Strongest, Most Shock Resistant Support Posts There Are. Not recommended for use with paving stones. 1. Determine the barrier layout and the approximate location of gates and posts. If the barrier does not completely surround the pool, then each end must be securely fastened to a solid structure that meets local standards for pool enclosures. The barrier should be located a minimum of 2 feet from the edge of the pool in order to allow access between the barrier and the pool. Mark out the approximate barrier line and post location, using a piece of chalk, and a chalk line. 2. Establish the approximate locations for the posts (remember, gates require an extra post) allowing 36" between posts on straight sides or, less to avoid obstacles. The barrier should never change direction more than 45 degrees at any one post. Sharp 90 degree comers are not recommended. Every job is unique and requires careful planning. CAUTION: Although the holes are only to be 3 114" deep, care MUST be taken that the post holes are not located where the drill will cause damage to water or power lines. WARNING: The LifeGuard Barrier does not replace adult supervision and cannot be relied on as a drownproofing device. Children must be supervised at all times. The LifeGuard Barrier has a 5 year warranty against manufacturer's defects. 10 Dansk Court, Unit 6., Etobicoke, Ontario M9W 5T8 Tel: (416) 7984340 Fax: (416) 7984342 Toll Free: 1-800-837-8961 www.covertechfab.com . • Life Guard Barrier Installation Instructions important: it is absolutely necessary that you read and understand all of the instructions before you begin because there are several interactive steps. These instructions are written for use with the Life Guard drilling jig and a 1 1/2 " Heavy Duty Rotary Hammer Drill with a 1 1/4 " diameter masonry drill bit If you prefer to use a Core Drill and a different template, you will have to make the appropriate adjustments. To install the Life Guard Barrier, the following tools will be required: 6 Tape measure • Chalk line • Shop vac • Extension cord 6 H.D. Rotary Hammer Drill • 1 1/4" masonry drill bit • Pliers • Utility knife • Piece of Chalk O Cold Chisel • Level • 9/64" drill bit • Power screwdriver (600 rpm. max.) • Hammer 6 Drilling template • Screw Driver - Philips Double check the barrier layout and determine the location of a gate. This is your starting point for the installation. Every gate requires 2 posts at 3 inch centers. Place Level Here Leveling foot Leveling foot 36" Leveling foot -4> Drilling Template Drilling Holes: 1. Insert the drill bit up through the bottom of the drilling template and adjust the drill's depth stop for a 3-1/4" hole. Follow the drill manufacturer's instructions when drilling holes. Drilling Holes Continued: 2. To keep all the posts vertical for straight sections, level the drilling jig in both directions for each hole. This will compensate for the slope of the deck. To do this, place a level on the cross bar and adjust the 3 leveling feet. Curved Sections: Posts on a curve, should be on an angle with the tops away from the inside of the curve in order to place more tension on the top of the barrier. To do this, adjust the leveling feet until the level bubble is off center a full bubble toward the inside of the curve. The more you slant the post, the tighter the top of the mesh will be. " 36" 6" 6" Gate Post 1 .+—Gate Pbst n 2 36" 3 Gate Section 2 Drilling cont'd®e Position the drill on the mark for one of the gate posts and while standing firmly on the template, drill the first hole. Clean the dust out of the hole and insert the locating pin through hole 'BT in the template, and into the first hole. Drill the second gate post hole on the barrier line. Continue drilling the rest of the holes in a clockwise direction using the same procedure but inserting a locating pin through hole 'C.' Be sure to drill the holes on the chalk line. The template will determine the exact spacing for the holes and will ensure that the hole is exactly vertical (or slanted if required). The final section of barrier may not be exactly 36". Measure the distance needed along the chalk line; place the drilling hole 'A' over this mark and proceed to drill the hole. If the barrier is terminated at an existing structure, the last hole must be located at a distance that will allow a 2 1/4 inch centre between the hook and the eye. Hook 3 Assembly Procedure: 1. Note the number and length of panels required, starting from a gate and working to the next gate or the end, in a clockwise direction. If the last section is an irregular distance, then the panel must be made shorter than the distance between the last two holes at the rate of approximately 1/8" per foot. This is to ensure that the mesh is stretched tightly when installed. Assemble the posts to the mesh making sure that spacing of the posts match the spacing of the holes you have drilled, ie:35 3/4" for a 36" space When assembled, the screws and hooks will be on the inside of the enclosed area. 2. Although it is not necessary to do so, if your barrier consists of more than one section, you might consider assembling and installing each section before continuing on with the next section. This is merely a quality check to ensure each section is properly assembled. Multiple sections are joined with hooks. When all the holes for the first section are drilled, plus the first hole of the next section, it is time to install the plastic inserts. Line up the guide lines (See figure below) on the insert ring with the fence chalk line making sure that the circle will be on the screw side (poolside) of the post and insert them into the holes. 4. Place the posts into the inserts, making sure they are straight with the insert and that the groove on the Screw side of the post is lined up with the circle on the insert. You will have to turn the post slightly to do this so when the post straightens out, it will be locked into the insert. The mesh at the bottom will be stretched tight and the top will be tight once the entire structure is hooked together. (To remove post, twist slightly as it is pulled out) This will disengage the key from the notch in the post. Chalk Line ........... .•.••-v• (Poolside) Top View of Insert Chalk Line 4 5. If the last panel is not the correct length, then disassemble the last post and adjust as necessary. 6. When you are sure that the assembly is correct, then trim the excess mesh with a sharp knife. 7. Gates — You can place a gate wherever two panels meet. Drill an extra hole on the poolside of the fence 3" away from the next closest pole. Drop the plastic insert into the hole and you have your gate. Just put the pole into the hole and roll the fence up. Your "Life Guard Barrier" fence is now complete. 5 Joining or Replacing Sections: One of the unique features of this barrier is that it is very easy to add to or replace sections if one gets damaged, you want to add to the barrier or, if you make a mistake. The join must be made inside the post. Measure the exact distance from the centers of the two post holes of the section to be repaired/replaced. Cut the mesh 1/4" longer than the measurement between the post holes. For example, if the post holes are 36" apart, then, using a straight edge, cut the mesh at 361,4. Again, using a straight edge, carefully trim the edge of the piece to be joined to be straight and square. Overlap the mesh by exactly 1/2" and staple them together at the top and bottom using a standard paper stapler. Lay the mesh over the blank post section, makin r sure that both 'laces of mesh cover the center ribs but do not extend to the outside walls of the post. Carefully place the pre-drilled post section into the outside walls of the post and install the screws as previously described. By carefully following these steps, the join will be strong and will be completely inside the post. - - - WARNING: The LifeGuard farrier does not replace adult supervision and cannot be relied on as a drownproofing device® Children must be supervised at all times. 6 LifeGuard Barrier Guidelines for care and use of the LifeGuard Barrier O The LifeGuard Barrier is designed to help prevent small children and pets from accidentally falling into the pool. It does not replace responsible adult supervision and must be maintained in it's original condition to be effective. O Do not lean on the top of the mesh in a way that will cause it to sag and become loose. O Do not hang towels, wet clothing, or pool accessories on the LifeGuard Barrier. O Be sure that the barrier is properly hooked together and the posts are fully inserted into the deck inserts. If any posts accidentally become bent, they should be replaced by your local LifeGuard Barrier installer. Warranty The LifeGuard Barrier is warranted for a period of 5 years against manufacturers defects only. The warranty does not cover damage caused by customer abuse or normal wear. 10 Dansk Court, Unit 6., Etobicoke, Ontario M9W 5T8 Tel: (416) 798-1340 Fax: (416) 798-1342 Toll Free: 1-800-837-8961 WWW.covertuchfab.com Miami Shores Village Building Department 10050 N.B.
