Lawton McCall, the first Village Manager of Miami Shores. McCall served as unofficial Village Clerk from 1932 -33 and as Village Manager from 1933 -68, guiding the development of the community. The residence was designed by H. George Fink. Fink was associated with his cousin George Merrick in the design of Coral Gables and received an honorary citation from King Alfonso XIII for his use of Spanish design in America, particularly in that community. The structure is typical of small homes built during the first year of the development of Miami Shores by the Shoreland Company and shows the adaptation of the Mediterranean Revival style to a small home.
