MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS The storm panels shall be constructed as indicated on approved drawing No. 95 -133, Sheet 1 of 3, using 20 ga. (.035 ") steel, Structural Quality, Grade D, conforming to ASTM A446 (Fy = 50 ksi. min.). Galvanized with a minimun G90 coating. Panels are rolled formed, have a nominal width of 12.00" and a total width of 13.875 ", forming 2" deep ribs Components shall be aluminum alloys 6063 -T6, "h" header, "u" header, 2" x 2" x 1/8" angle, and a 1/8" thick x 2.25" x 3" (4" or 5.25 ") angle depending on built -out condition. Tested specimen: Dimensions: 49.5" wide x 83.5" long, 49.5" wide x 88" long, 37.5" wide x 136" long and 37.5" wide x 48" long overall. 3. LIMITATIONS 3.1 The design will be dependent on the maximum panel height of 7' -4" or 88 ", for wall and built out mount, 7' -0" or 84" for ceiling /inside mount and to be installed only as outlined on drawing No. 95 -133 Sheets 1, 2 and 3 of 3. 3.2 Minimum separation to existing glass to protect shall be: 2 5/8 ". 3.3 Maximum clearance between top of panel and inside of header shall be 1/4 ". 3.4 Special Requirement: All panels longer than 33" shall require reinforcing 1/4 " -20 x 1" sidewalk bolts and washered wingnuts spaced at 12" o. c. at midspan, at all overlaps. 4. INSTALLATION 4.1 The panels shall be installed only in the following condition: 4.1.1 Wall Mount (Direct Mount) The panels are secured at the head and sill, either directly to 1/2" x 7/8" Rawl Calk -in anchors embeded in the wall, spaced at 6" o.c., using 1/4 " -20 SS machine bolts and Key Hole Washers (Direct Mount); OR to an "h" Header (Part 2) at the head; and to a 2" x 2" x 1/8" studded Sill Angle (Part 6) or an Optional Angle (Part 4) at the sill, both of which are anchored to the wall, using the tension anchors as shown on Dwg.
