Rough Carpentry: The rough carpentry shall include all framing, setting .
of door jambs, and formwork.
Framing;
The sill on top of the foundation wall shall be 2 x 4's of #2 common
longleaf pine. This shall have'a level uniform bearing. If neceasary to .
obtain this level bearing a grout of cement mortar is to be laid. The floor
joists shall. be 2 x 8 16" o.c. The lymber for these joists 'shall be !2
common longleaf pine.' One row of 1 x cross bridging is required between
all spans. Nail cross headers between the ends of all joists. The wood
sub -floor shall be laid diagonally with joints cut over and parallel to
joists. The ceiling joists are to be 2 x 6 16" o.c. These joists are to
be anchored to the concrete lir.' ;e1 with metal joists anchors 48" o.c.
These anchors are to be set in the concrete -as it is poured. The roof
rafters are to be 2 x 6 16" o.c. The rafters are to be tied to the ceiling
joists with 1 x 6 roof ties as shown on the section detail of the drawings.
A 2 x 4 plate. is to be' securely bolted to the beam with '> x 8" bolts 5' o.c.
The studs in the wood partitions are to be 2'x 4 l6" o.c. The studs are to
be doubled around all openings and at all. corners. `Mere stud galls contact ix
masonry walls the partition is to be secured by joj stx anchor iron to the •
plate and beam. The anchors. Pre to be placed in the bears when it is poured.

A 2 x 4 toe plate is to be used at the base of all stud wall 'partit_tons and
a double 2 x 4 head plate is to be used at the tops. The arch beam of the
living room wall is to be well trussed with a double 2 x 8. The roof
sheathing is to be 1 x 6 T. & G.
Setting door jambs:
All inside dooe jambs are to be made from 5/4 x 4" #1 cypress. These
door jambs are to set plumb and true. If necessary to make these jambs
plumb and straight a shingle wedge is acceptable. All door jambs are to
be face nailed and punched where they are not covered by stops.
Form Work i The .form work for the footings .may be composed of the framing
timbers. All forma are to be level and-the concrete is to be poured level
with the tops of these forma.' The forms for the lintels and caps shall be
made up from sheathing. These forms are to be placed so that they measure
12" of concrete as shown on the.tlrawings.
Finish Carpentry :. The following specifications on . finish carpentry apply
to quality of material and workmanship.
All trim around the doors shall be #1 cypress. The base boards are to'be
1 x 3 #1 cypress, The stops around the. door is to be 1 5/8" O.G. stop.
This stop is to be #1 cypress. All outside doors shall be as shown on the
drawings. The garage doors on the job• are to be as shown on the The
inside doors are to be of such sizes as shown,on - the drawings. The inside
doors are to be either one or two panel stook doors as chosen by the owner.
A 7/8" shot _moulding shall be laid all around the floors next to the base
boards. The trim around the door openings shall be a.1 x 2 plaster moulding
with a lip.. The kitchen cabinet is to be.made up from #2 common pine, cypress
and plywood. The framing of the cabinet is to be pine and the finish of the,
cabinet is to be cypress, The doors on the cabinet are to be made from t"
plywood. All nails in finish trim are to be set with a punch.
Steel Casements: All steel casements are to be of such sizes and styles
as shown on -the drawings. These easements are to be screwed to the concrete

window frames as shown on the drawings. The contractor for thfs work is to
furnish all hardware and soreens necessary for this work, and have the
casements glazed.
Roof Work:. This root` is to have a pitch of 31" to the foot. The covering
is to be White or Red Cement barrel]. type tile over'.a 9Q # up slate
surface roof. All flashing and drip caps are to be copper flashing. This
flashing is to go around chimneys_ and Solar coils, i„: a Solar is specified
on the drawings. Where vent pipes protrude from the roof they:are to be
flashed with galvanized caps with lead necks. These necks are to be well
pounded around the pipes by the plumber to prevent leaks. Copper drip caps
are to be placed at all eaves.
Fireplaces The fire box is to be made up of fire proof brick. The - bottom,
sides and back are to be of this brick. All brick work is to be neatly ..laid.
The flue,lining shall be terra cotta flue lining measuring 8" x 18" in area
for the opening. This flue lining is to extend from within 18" of the throat
to the top of the stack, The Mantel piece is to be Cast Stone.
