R4402.13.1 Scope. As it pertains to the section, it is the responsibility of roofing contractor to prov t ner
with the required roofing permit, and to explain to the owner the content of the section. The p rovis' ti a 0 200
R4402 govern the minimum requirements and standards of the industry for roofing system installations.
Additionally, the following items should be addressed as part of the agreement between the owner . the 11/1;)
contractor. The owner's initial in the designated space indicates that the item has been explained.
1. BP Aesthetics - Workmanship: the workmanship provisions of Section R4402 are
for the purpose of providing that the roof system meets the wind resistance and water
instruction performance standards. Aesthetics (appearance) are not a consideration with
respect to workmanship provisions. Aesthetic issues such as color or architectural

drain well and may cause water to pond (accumulate) in low -lying areas gf'tlte roof," • •
Ponding can be an indication of structural distress and may require the review of a;,•�;
professional structural engineer. Ponding may shorten the life expectancy and performance
of the new roofing system. Ponding conditions may not be evident until the original roofing
system is removed. Ponding conditions should be corrected.
6. I� Overflow scuppers (wall outlets): It is required that rainwater flow off so that
the roof is not overloaded from a buildup of water. Perimeter /edge wall or other roof
extension may block this discharge if overflow scuppers (wall outlets) are not provided. It
may be necessary to install overflow scuppers in accordance with the requirements of
Sections R4402, R4403 and R4413.
7. , v Ventilation: Most roof structures should have some ability to vent natural
airflow through the interior of the structure assembly (the building itself). The existing
amount of attic ventilation shall not be reduced. It may be beneficial to consider additional
venting which can result in extending the service life of the roof.

by the Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) to be used in Miami Dade County and other areas where allowed by
the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

Whereas, the applicant Ben Pumo (Owner) has filed an application for site plan review
before the Planning and Zoning Board on the above property. The applicant sought
approval as follows: Sec. 701: Appeal on allegation of error — Building material, surface
colored not color through tile.
Whereas, a public hearing was held on January 25, 2007 and the Board, after having
considered the application and after hearing testimony and reviewing the evidence
entered, finds:
1. The application was made in a manner consistent with the requirements of
the Land Development Code of Miami Shores Village.
2. The conditions on the property and the representations made at the hearing
merit consideration and are consistent with the requirements of the Land
Development Code.
The Board requires that all further development of the property shall be performed in a
manner consistent with the site plan, drawings, and the conditions agreed upon at the
hearing:
1) Applicant to obtain all necessary building permits before commencing work.
2) Applicant to meet all applicable code provisions at the time of permitting.
3) This zoning permit will lapse and become invalid unless the work for which it
was approved is started within one (1) year of the signing of the development

order by the board chair, or if the work authorized by it is suspended or
abandoned for a period of at least one (1) year.
4) Applicant will replace tile within six (6) months of notice by the Planning
Director that the tile color has faded or the surface damaged so as to expose the
base color of the tile.
Additionally, the applicant must, satisfy all applicable Miami Shores Village Codes,
Miami -Dade County Codes, the applicable building and life safety codes required for
development, and provide a copy of the development order to the Building Dept.
