of the insured building or unit, ita condominium unit,

STORM SHUTTERS of any style and material, or

installed to meet one or more of the criteria requirements
listed below.
All shutters and/or alternative to shutters at the location
shown in D.2 of this form are designed to meet one of
more of the following:
1. %vithstand wind pressure that at a minimum meets the
American Society of Civil Engineers, July 1988 standards
(ASCE 7/88) and impact from wind -borne debris, adopted
by Dada County, Florida in September 1994 or any local
code that meets, at a minimum, September 1994 Dade
County requirements for wind pressure and impact from
wind borne debris or complies with SS1D -12 standards for
wind pressure and impact from wind borne debris.
2. withstand wind pressure that at a minimum meets the
standards set forth in the South Florida Building Code,
adopted in Dade County, Florida in August'1988.
NOTE: Roof ridge vents, soffit veint and breakaway walls
al defined and required by the National Flood Insurance

required by the Dade County building code, do not have
to be protected by shutters.

1. The garage door(s) meets or is RETROFITTED to meet

1. DESCRIPTION
1.1

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: SPECIFIC CONDITIONS.
This approves an aluminum accordion type shutter designed to comply with the South Florida
Building Code, 1994 Edition for Dade County, for the locations where the pressure requirements
as determined by ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures ", do
not exceed the Design Pressure Rating values in Section 7 and within the limitations contained in
Section 3.
2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Main blade is a nominal 3.858 ", overall 4.366" wide x .056" thick, constructed as indicated on
approved drawing No. 95 -275, Sheet 1 of 6, bearing the Dade County Product Approval stamp,
using extruded aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, which is also used for the auxiliary slats and rest of the
components shall be constructed as indicated on the same drawing.
2.2 Blade pins shall be #10 x 3" SMS made of #410 -HT stainless steel with fluoropolymer coating.
2.3 • Tested specimens:
Dimensions: Blade Lengths of 96 ", 104 -1/2 ", 108 ", 111", 114 ", 120" and 144"
3. LIMITATIONS
3.1 Maximum blade height or span.,
3.1.1 144" for installation below 30' -0" elevation.
3.1.2 156" for installation above 30' -0" elevation
3.1.3 For Maximum Design Pressure Rating vs. Panel Span see Schedule on Sheet 6 of 6.
3.2 Minimum separation between glass to be protected and shutter:
Use the following table, see Table 1 on Sheet 6 of 6.
3.3 Special requirement:
3.3.1 A maximum of 0.250" clearance is allowed between bottom of blade and top of sill and top
blade and bottom of header.
3.3.2 All shutters shall have a locking mechanism at center or side closure. Locks must be
activated during hurricane warnings.
3.3.3 Locking rods, two at top and two at bottom, shall remain attached to shutters at all time,
secure tightly with thumb screws in the locked position and activated during hurricane warnings.
4. INSTALLATION

4.1.1 Built Out Condition - Offset
Every fourth blade hangs from a set of double rollers mounted on an aluminum roller housing that
glides on the track of the Ceiling Mount Header (Part B) which is fastened to a 2" x 3" (to 5 ") x
0.125" thick aluminum angle with 1/4 " -20 stainless steel belt with nut and washer at 12" o.c. The
sill consists of the same ceiling header but inverted. This angle (used in both head and sill
conditions) is anchored to the substrate as shown on Section C, Sheet 2 of 6, Dwg. No. 95 -275,
bearing the Dade County Product Approval stamp.
4.1.2 Wall Mount
In this mounting arrangement, the Wall Mount Header (Part A or Al), which is also used as the
sill turned upside down, is anchored directly to the wall, as shown on Sections A or Al
respectively, Dwg. No. 95 -275, Sheet 2 of 6 bearing the Dade County Product Approval stamp.
4.1.3 Ceiling & Floor Mount
• In this mounting arrangement, the Ceiling Mount Header (Part B) is anchored directly to the
underside of a poured concrete lintel and the sill assembly, Sill and Sill Bottom Adapter (Parts C
and D), is anchored to a poured concrete slab or bulkhead as shown on Section B, Dwg. No.
95 -275, Sheet 2 of 6 bearing the Dade County Product Approval stamp.
4.1.4 Any combination of the above.
4.2 Anchorage of the shutters shall be to concrete, masonry and/or wood and shall consist of
only the anchors specified on General Notes #7 on Sheet 1, Installation Details on Sheets 2 thru 5
and "Max. Anchor Spacing Schedule" on Sheet 6 of Dwg. No. 95 -275. Substitution of anchor
type or indicated embedment is unacceptable and are to be engineered separately.
Fasteners must have their own Notice of Acceptance and must be made of stainless steel or have
adequate protection against corrosion, per DIN 50018. Aluminum contacting metals not
considered compatible shall be properly protected.
4.3 Permanent set fastener components, embedded anchor bolts, threaded cones or metal shields, not
in use, must be protected against corrosion, contamination and damage at all time.
5. IDENTIFICATION
5.1 Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state and
following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ".
6. USE
6.1 Application for building permit shall be accompanied by two copies of the following:
6.1.1 This Notice of Acceptance.
6.1.2 Completely dimensioned drawing showing number, size and location, including height
above grade, of openings to receive shutters, and mean roof height and width of building.
6.1.3 Duplicate prints of approved drawing No. 95 -275, Sheets 1 through 6 of 6, bearing the
approval stamp, Notice of Acceptance number and date by Dade County Product Control.
Section, clearly marked to show the components selected for the proposed installation.
6.2 The Building Official shall ensure the adequacy of shutter to meet the pressure requirement of the
opening in which it is to be installed.

1. Renewal of this Acceptance (approval) shall be considered after a renewal application has been filed and the original
submitted documentation, including test supporting data, engineering documents, are no older than eight (8) years.
2. Any and all approved products shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name, city, state, and the
following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ", or as specifically stated in the specific conditions of
this Acceptance.
3. Renewals of Acceptance will not be considered if:
a) There has been a change in the South Florida Building Code affecting the evaluation of this product and
the product is not in compliance with the code changes;
b) The product is no longer the same product (identical) as the one originally approved;
c) If the Acceptance holder has not complied with all the requirements of this acceptance, including the
correct installation of the product;
d) The engineer who originally prepared, signed and sealed the required documentation initially submitted ,
is no longer practicing the engineering profession.
4. Any revision or change in the materials, use, and/or manufacture of the product or process shall automatically be
cause for termination of this Acceptance, unless prior written approval has been requested (through the filing of a
revision application with appropriate fee) and granted by this office.
5. Any of the following shall also be grounds for removal of this Acceptance:
a) Unsatisfactory performance of this product or process;
b) Misuse of this Acceptance as an endorsement of any product, for sales, advertising or any other purposes.
6. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Dade County, Florida, and followed by the expiration date
may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the Notice of Acceptance is displayed, then it shall be
done in its entirety.
7. A copy of this Acceptance as well as approved drawings and other documents, where it applies, shall be provided to
the user by the manufacturer or its distributors and shall be available for inspection at the job site at all times. The
copies need not be resealed by the engineer.
8. Failure to comply with any section of this Acceptance shall be cause for termination and removal of Acceptance.
9. This Acceptance contains pages 1, 2,2,(a) through 2(c) and this last page 3.
Items 10.11 & 12 listed below only apply to glazed products
10. Unless specifically indicated in the Acceptance (approval), this unit is approved as a single unit installation. For
multiple installation of this unit, a separate Acceptance for mullions is required from the Product Control Section.
The spacing of fasteners at window sills shall be as tested. The spacing of fasteners in all other parts of the frame,
shall be as tested, but in no case shall exceed 24" on center. The first fastener shall be located at a maximum of 6"
from each corner and mullion or stile. Fastener shall fully penetrate the buck, which shall be the same size as the one
tested with the unit. No wood or plastic shields or pins shall be used for anchoring. See section four (4) of this
approval for sizes of fasteners used in testing.
11. Hardware for all windows and doors shall conform to Security and Forced Entry Prevention, Chapter 36 of the South
Florida Building Code.

This approves an extruded aluminum roll -up type shutter designed to comply with the South Florida
Building Code Impact Test Requirement and ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings
and Other Structures ", for the following locations:
1.1.1 Non - coastal building zone.
1.1.2 Coastal building zone.
2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1. Slpts: The slats shall be extruded as indicated on approved drawing No. 95 -44 Sheet 2 of 8, using
aluminum alloy 6063 -T6. This slat configuration, (Type 1 Slat - Part A) Die Dwg. No H -4855, has a
total width of 2.840 ", a max. depth of .585" and a typical wall thickness of .050 ". For maximum slat
length "L" and Design Pressure rating, see "Slat Performance Chart" on Sheet 5 of 8 ".
2.2 Storm Bars: Provides the two or three span options, spans vertically from floor to ceiling (exterior
storm bar) or from floor to header or top support (interior storm bar); where the width of a window
opening exceeds the maximum single span of the.slats, intermediate support(s) shall be provided by
double storm bars permanently installed, permitting the slats to resist both inward and outward
pressures. Consist of extruded tubes of aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, tube sizes are: (Type 1 Storm Bar
Part C) 1" x 2" x 1/8 ", (Type 2 Storm Bar Part D) 1" x 3" x 1/8 ", (Type 3 Storm Bar Part E) 2" x 4" x
1/8" or (Type 4 Storm Bar Part F) 1 3/4" x 4" x 1/4 ". For maximum storm bar length "L" and
Design Pressure rating, see "Storm Bar Loading Charts" on Sheets 6 and 7 of 8.
2.3 Header (Top Support): Provides top structural support for storm bars on two, three and four
span applications, spans horizontally from wall to wall, wall to post or post to post. Consists of an
extruded tube of aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, tube sizes are: (Type 1 Header Part G) 1" x 3" x 1/8 ",
(Type 2 Header Part H) 2" x 4" x 1/8" or (Type 3 Header Part I) 1 3/4" x 4" x 1/4 ". For maximum
header length "L" and Design Pressure rating, see "Header Loading Chart" on Sheet 8 of 8.
2.4 Mullions (Post): No mullion (Post) applications are included in this approval.
2.5 Side Rails (Tracks): Provide lateral support for slats, run vertically and are anchored directly to the
wall on the wall mounting option or thru a 2" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum angle on the inside mount
option. Consists of an extruded aluminum shape of aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, sizes are: (Type 1 Side
Rails Part J) 2.958" x 1.067" x .062" wall thickness, (Type 2 Side Rails Part K) 2.593" x 1.076" x
.062" wall thickness, (Type 3 Side Rails Part L) 2.960" x 1.050" x .070/.145" wall thickness or
(Type 4 Side Rails Part M) 2.960" x 1.050" x .070/.145" wall thickness. See note "Side Rail
Conditions" on Sheet 5 of 8 for rating of standard Types 1 and 2 or heavy duty Types 3 and 4 Side
Rails.
2.6 Reel Box: Part N - Supports hand crank operated galvanized steel drum. Consists of two cast
aluminum end caps, each with a 26 ga. galv. steel retaining plate, held in place through two built -in
brackets that slide down thru the hollow part of the tracks; has four covers, .032" thick alum. alloy
3005 -H26, front, back , top and bottom, all are riveted in place.

3. LIMITATIONS
3.1 The design will be dependent on:
3.1.1 The maximum slat clear span of 5' -9" or 69", using the "Slat Performance Chart" on Sheet 5
of 8, for ,Ingle an and Multiple Span applications, to determine the Design Pressure Rating "W"
(based on negative pressures), max. span (L) and the minimum separation to glass.
3.1.2 The maximum storm bar span of 8' -0" or 96 ", using the "Storm Bar Loading Charts" on
Sheets 6 and 7 of 8, for multiple span applications, to determine the Design Pressure Rating "W"
(based on negative pressures), max. span (L) and the storm bar spacing for the four different types of .
storm bars included in this design.
3.1.3 The maximum header span of 13' -0" or 156 ", using the "Header Loading Chart" on Sheet 8
of 3, for multiple span applications, to determine the Design Pressure Rating "W" (based on negative
pressures) and the max. span (L) for the three different types of headers included in this design.
3.2 Minimum separation between existinl_P,lass to be protected andillltllit.
This separation is: a.) From glass to slats for single span shutters.
b.) From glass to nearest side of storm bars for multiple span shutters.
3.3 Minimum slat engaggment inside of si e_trackshall be 1 1/4 ".

4. INSTALLATION
4.1 The roll -up shutters shall be installed in the following conditions:
4.1.1 Wall Mount
The Side Tracks and Reel Box are directly anchored to the wall , as shown in Section P -P (1)
"Wall Mount" on Sheet 1 of 8 and Section V -V "Wall Mounting Installation" on Sheet 3 of 8.
4.1.2 Inside Mount
In this mounting condition the Side Tracks are fastened, using #14 x 3/4" SMS spaced at 6"
o.c., to a 2" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum angle that is anchored to the wall inside the opening and the Reel
Box is anchored directly to the underside of a poured concrete lintel, as shown in Section P -P (2)
"Inside Mount" on Sheet 1 of 8 and Section V -V "Ceiling & Floor Mounting Installation" on Sheet 3
of 8.
4.1.3 Any combination of the above
4.2 Anchorage of the shutters shall be to concrete, masonry and/or wood framing and shall consist of
only the anchors specified on drawing No. 95 -44, Sheets 1 thru 8 of 8. Substitution of anchor type
or indicated embedment is unacceptable and are to be engineered separately.
Fasteners must have their own Notice of Acceptance and must be made of stainless steel or have
adequate protection against corrosion, per DIN 50018. Aluminum contacting metals not considered
compatible shall be properly protected.
4.3 Permanent set fastener components, embedded anchor bolts, threaded cones or metal shields, not in
use, must be protected against corrosion, contamination and damage at all time.
4.4 The shutters shall be provided with adequate locking devices for securing the shutters in the closed
position during a hurricane warning.
4.5 The mechanism for operating the shutter, not included in this present approval shall be certified by a
recognized testing agency.
5. IDENTIFICATION
5.1 Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state and
following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ".
6. USE
6.1 Application for building permit shall be accompanied by two copies of the following:
6.1.1 This Notice of Acceptance.
6.1.2 Completely dimensioned drawing showing size and location, including height above
grade, of openings to receive shutters; mean roof height, length and width of building.
6.1.3 Duplicate prints of approved drawing No. 95 -44, Sheets 1 thru .. 8 of 8, bearing the approval
stamp, Notice of Acceptance number and date by Dade County Product Control Section,
clearly marked to show the components selected for the proposed installation.
6.2 This revision supersedes Notice of Acceptance No. 94- 0310.02 dated July 11, 1994.

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE:
1. Extension of Acceptance may be considered after a new application has been filed and the
supporting data, test report no older than ten (10) years, have been re- evaluated.
All reports of re- testing shall bear the seal, signature and date of an engineer registered in the State of
Florida.
2. Any revision or change in the materials, rise, or manufacture of the product or process shall
automatically be cause for termination, unless prior approval is granted for revisions or change.
3. Any unsatisfactory performance of this product or process or a change in Code provisions shall be
ground for re- evaluation.
4. This acceptance shall not be used as an endorsement of any product for sales or advertising purposes.
5. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Dade County, Florida, and followed by the
expiration date may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the Notice of Acceptance
is displayed, then it shall be done in its entirety.
6. A copy of this approval as well as approved drawings and other documents shall be provided to the
applicant by the manufacturer or his distributors and shall be available for inspection at the job site at

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
1. SCOPE
This revises the Notice of Acceptance No. 97- 0109.03 that was issued on 07/03/97. It approves an aluminum
slat roll -up shutter, as described in Section 2 of this Notice of Acceptance, designed to comply with the South
Florida Building Code, 1994 Edition for Miami -Dade County (SFBC). For the locations where the pressure
requirements, as determined by SFBC Chapter 23, do not exceed the Design Pressure Rating values indicated
in the approved drawings.
2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Extruded Aluminum Roll -Up Shutter and its components shall be constructed in strict compliance
with the following documents: Drawing No. 99 -126, titled "Roll -Up Shutters" prepared by Tilteco, Inc. dated
04/12/99, with no revision sheets 1 through 10 of 10. They bear the Miami -Dade County Product Control
Approval stamp with the Notice of Acceptance number and approval date by the Miami -Dade County
Product Control Division. These documents shall hereinafter be referred to as the approved drawings.
3. LIMITATIONS
3.1 Minimum slat engagement shall be 1.25 ".
3.2 Minimum separation from interior of slat to glass being protected shall be as shown on sheet 8 of 10.
3.3 The operating mechanism, not part of this approval shall be certified by a recognized testing agency.
3.4 All permanent set components, included but not limited to embedded anchor bolts, threaded cones,
metal shields, etc., must be protected against corrosion, contamination and damage at all time.
4. INSTALLATION
The Aluminum Slat Roll -Up Shutter and its components shall be installed in strict compliance with the
approved drawings.
5. LABELING
Each shutter shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state and following
statement: "Miami -Dade County Product Control Approved ".
6. BUILDING PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
6.1 Application for building permit shall be accompanied by copies of the following:
6.1.1 This Notice of Acceptance.
6.1.2 Duplicate copies of the approved drawings, as identified in Section 2 of this Notice of
Acceptance, clearly marked to show the components selected for the proposed installation.
6.1.3 Any other documents required by the Building Official or the South Florida Building Code
(SFBC) in order to properly evaluate the installation of this system.

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: STANDARD CONDITIONS
1 Renewal of this Acceptance (approval) shall be considered after a renewal application has been filed and the
original submitted documents, including test - supporting data, engineering documents, are no older than eight
(8) years.
2. Any and all approved products shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name, city, state, and the
following statement: "Miami -Dade County Product Control Approval ", or as specifically stated in the
specific conditions of this Acceptance.
3. Renewals of Acceptance will not be considered if:
a. There has been a change in the South Florida Building Code affecting the evaluation of this product
and the product is not in compliance with the code changes.
b. The product is no longer the same product (identical) as the one originally approved.
c. If the Acceptance holder- has -not- complied - with -all -the-- requirements-of this -acceptance, including the- --
correct installation of the product.
d. The engineer who originally prepared, - signed and sealed the required documentation initially
submitted, is no longer practicing the engineering profession.
4. Any revision or change in the materials, use, and/or manufacture of the product or process shall automatically
be cause for termination of this Acceptance, unless prior . written approval_ has been__requested_(through_the_._ _
filing of a revision application with appropriate fee) and granted by " this office. -
5. Any of the following shall also be grounds for removal of this Acceptance:
a. Unsatisfactory performance of this product or process.
b. Misuse of this Acceptance as an endorsement of any product, for sales, advertising or any other
purposes.
6. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Miami -Dade County, Florida, and followed by the
expiration date may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the Notice of Acceptance is
displayed, then it shall be done in its entirety.
7. A copy of this Acceptance as well as approved drawings and other documents, where it applies, shall be
provided to the user by the manufacturer or its distributors and shall be available for inspection at the job site
at all time. The engineer need not reseal the copies.
8. Failure to comply with any section of this Acceptance shall be cause for termination and removal of
Acceptance.
