This letter is an explanation of the reasons for the ongoing problems with the
permits and construction at our home. As you may recall, I first met you during
the demolition of the master bedroom. I thought that a permit had been secured
prior to the commencement of the work. We were informed by the Contractor,
Alfred McKnight, that he had made application to North Miami, instead of the
Shores Village. We met again, when you told me that I was still operating
without a permit. Mr. Mc Knight, again, had misinformed us. Under your
direction, I obtained the permit in my name and the demolition has been
completed. Subsequently, in July Mr. McKnight, through his Company, Florida
Professional Services, obtained a permit to update our swimming pool. As was
the case with the demolition, Mr. Mc Knight has performed negligently and
poorly, and also, intentionally obtained the wrong permit. On October 8, 2004,
with the assistance of our Attorney, Michael Green, we have formally terminated
Mr. McKnight.
We had hoped to discuss this with you in person, however, when you receive
this letter we will be gone from Miami until November 8, 2004. Because our
termination of the Contractor occurred almost simultaneously with our
departure, we wanted to inform Miami Shores Village of this matter in writing.
When we return, we will utilize a new Contractor to properly undertake any
remediation of Mr. McKnight's work and correctly complete this project. We
have enclosed a copy of the letter to Mr. McKnight and Mr. Ed Ryan, the
Certified Building Contractor. We repeatedly tried to contact and meet with Ed
Ryan, but these efforts were blocked by Mr. McKnight. It is our opinion from the

events associated with the contracts and the character of Mr. McKnight's work
that Ed Ryan may be figure head who rents his license to Mr. McKnight. With
the help of our Attorney we will undertake a full investigation of their relationship.
At this point we have obtained the licensing information concerning Ed Ryan's
record and 19 cases are shown, including 8 license revocations and
suspensions.
From the beginning, it was our intention to remodel the pool. Mark Campbell
drew the changes and Al McKnight gave us a contract for that scope of work.
We were misled by Al McKnight in obtaining a permit solely for resurfacing the
pool.
We are extremely unhappy with these results brought upon all of us through Mr.
McKnight's and Mr. Ryan's actions. It is our intention to comply totally with the
permits and building policies of our community. Nancy and I and our Children
are eager to move into our new home. We apologize to you and the building
department for any inconveniences or problems which have resulted from these
events.

This firm is counsel to Mr. Peter Margolis with respect to his termination of the
referenced Contract caused by your failure to competently perform the services agreed to
by the parties. While the list of defects and improper workmanship is lengthy, the
primary area of negligence and substandard work concerns the pool. Mr. Margolis has
discussed these problems with you, advised you in writing of the horrendous conditions
and notified FPS of the defective workmanship.
It has become obvious to us that you have been unable or unwilling to repair the
defects you caused at the Property. As a result, Mr. Margolis does not want to suffer any
. further damages which may become irreparable.
We are at this time investigating the Rill extent of your defective work and
consequent damages. Mr. Margolis has terminated the Contract in good faith and as an
- attempt to mitigate his damages. Furthermore, not only is the Contract terminated and
your presence impermissible at the construction site, but we intend to hold you personally
