3. The tiles are approved for installation as mortar -on system and as
a nail -on system. Both systems shall be installed over 1/2" solid
plywood deck as set forth in Section 2909.2 of the Code.
4. The mortar -set application of this tile shall be subjected to the
limitations set forth in Section 3404 of the Code. Head -lap shall
be 2 1/2 ".
5. The tile shall be installed in accordance with Section 3404 of the
,South Florida Building Code, or the referenced manufacturer's
directions, whichever is most restrictive. It is the
responsibility of the manufacturer, i.e. the permittee to provide
copies of this Notice of Acceptance and the manufacturer's
directions, on site and 'available for the use of the Building
Inspector. These directions shall comply with Section 3404.1 (a)
(3) and shall give any other directions necessary for the intended
installation. Failure to provide these documents shall be cause
for re- inspection.
6. Nail -on applications shall be limited to 55 feet above grade.
Headlap shall be 2 1/2 ". Installation shall be as follows:
A. for slopes 4 : 12 and greateer:
Underlayment shall be 43 pound asphalt saturated felt. Each
tile shall be nailed with two 8 penny hot dipped galvanized
common nails, and each rake tile shall be nailed with two 10
penny hot dipped galvanized common nails.
B. For slopep less that; 4 : 12. but. 3 ; 12 or greater:
The underlayment shall be in accordance with Section 3404.2
(b). Each tile shall be fastened with two 8 penny hot dipped
galvanized common nails, and each rake tile shall be nailed
with two 10 penny hot dipped galvanized common nails. Each
nail shall be sealed between the tile and the granular
surfaced roofing membrane with a spot of plastic roofing
cement.

7. Installation of underlayment, ridge and rake tile, flashing,
valleys and the requirement for the use of plastic roof cement
shall be in accordance with the referenced test documents. These
documents contain the manufacturer's recommendations and shall be
on the installation site for the use of the building inspector.
Installation of the nail -on system shall be in accordance with the
manufacturer's recommendations, this Notice of Acceptance or the
South Florida Building Code whichever is most restrictive.
The manufacturer shall retain the services of an independent
testing laboratory to maintain quality control. Testing shall be
performed on a minimum of five (5) tiles during production of
domestic tile for strength according to Section 3404 of the South
Florida Building Code and for moisture absorption according to ASTM
C -4. Test samples shall be selected by a laboratory according to
ASTM D- 3665 -82. Results shall be submitted to Dade County Product

3. Each ridge, hip or rake tile shall be fastened to the roof framing
with 2 ring shank 10d nails. A bead of roofers mastic shall be
placed where tiles overlap. The two longitudinal edges of hip and
ridges tiles shall be made watertight by a bedding -or Portland
cement mortar.
4. valley flashing shall be No. 26 gage corrosion - resistant metal,
extending at least 9" from the centerline each way with a minimum
1/2" edge return bent toward the center line at an angle of
approximately 30 ° . Flashing end laps shall not be less than 6 - .
5. Where rake tiles center over top roll of adjacent perimeter field
tile or when water will penetrate through mortar and into space
below tiles, provide a metal tray along the length of the gable
from the ridge to eaves discharging outside fascia or roll
underlayment over edge of sheathing.
6. When roof tiles abutt vertical walls, 26 gage galvanized metal
counter flashing with either top flashing or pan flashing shall be
installed and secured at.12" o.c. Pan and top falshing shall
extend a minimum of 8" above the solid sheathing and be embedded i
the stucco when stucco is used. The pan shall extend
horizontally to the center rib of each-tile or 8 " and
terminate with a folded flange of 1" width at 30 turned back.
7. Ridge trim tiles shall be installed M a as per Monier Technical
Florida
Bulletin #673 or embedded in type per
Building Code Section 2702.10 (b). Provide weep holes in ridging
mortar in all troughs of top course tiles. Provide mastic or
caulking at the overlap of each right tile.
8. Openings of vent stacks shall have a minimum of 14" x 18" apron
shaped to fill th'e tile profile. Flashing shall be of lead,
copper, other approved flexible flashing materials.
