NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
1. This approves Vanguard II Roll concrete roof tile for a direct
nail -on system on a minimum roof slope of 4" in 12 ". This direct
nail -on system shall be limited to installations of 150 feet above
existing grade.
2. Specifications:
vanguard II roll concrete tile is 16 1/2" long by 13 1/8" wide with
a 2 1/4" crown height the center line of the curved portion and
1" thick,at the butt end. Each tile has a 1 5/16" interlocking
side lap. The average weight of a tile is eleven (11) pounds.
3. Installation:
Each tile is attached, to a fully sheathed 19/32" or 5/8" thick
sheathing grade plywood deck covered with a 43 pound asphalt
impregnated felt, with two 10d common hot dip galvanized steel
nails. The nails are driven through the 3/16" diameter nail holes
to within 1/16" of the surface. Each course of tile is installed
utilizing a 3" head lap.
4. Quality Control
The manufacturer shall retain the services of an independent
testing laboratory to maintain quality control. Test shall be
performed on a minimum of five tiles during production of domestic
tile for strength according to Section 3403 of the South Florida
Building Code and for moisture absorption according to ASTM C -4.
Test samples shall be selected by a laboratory according to ASTM
D- 3665 -82. Results shall be submitted to Dade County Product
Control Section every ninety days. Test reports shall bear a
description of the tile by material and color, i.e. clay, red.

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: STANDARD CONDITIONS
1. Extension of Acceptance may be considered after a new
application has been filed and the supporting data,
test reports no older than ten (10) years, have been
re- evaluated.
All reports of re- testing shall bear the seal,
signature and date of an engineer registered in the
State of Florida.
2. Any revision or change in the materials, use, or
manufacture of the product or process shall
automatically be cause for termination, unless prior
approval is granted for revisions or change.
3. Any unsatisfactory performance of this product or
process or a change in Code provisions shall be
grounds for
re- evaluation.
4. This acceptance shall not be used as an endorsement of
any product for sales or advertising purposes.
5. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words
Dade County, Florida, and followed by the expiration
date may be displayed in advertising literature. If
any portion of the Notice of Acceptance is displayed,

6. Product approval drawings, where required for permit

The tile shall be installed on a solid nailable deck of 5/8" thick plywood for all new
construction, or to 1/2" plywood deck on re- roofing.
The nailable deck shall be covered with a #30 Type 11 (ASTM 226) anchor sheet
maintaining a 4" overlap and tin - capped 12" o.c. except 6" o.c. at the laps. Over this, a No. 90
mineral surface roll roofing shall be fully hot - mopped with nominal 2" laps with the concealed
edge of lap iin- capped 12" o.c. except at the valley flashing. •
The galvanized steel strip shall be nailed over the #30 anchor sheet Q 4" - o.c. and over
lapped for 5 ". When required prior to the installation of the tile, a formed 0.019 thick steel
bird stop shall be installed at the cave, which shall be bedded in mastic to the membrane and hand
nailed to the roof 11" o.c. and near each end.
The tile, maintaining a I head lap, shall be attached with two 10d plated steel gun nails
per tile over a bed of roofing mastic applied to the #90 roll roofing, at nail penetrations.
The cave tile, in addition to the 2 -10d nails, shall be attached with formed steel grip clips
(refer to Lif :tile Catalog Page 22) centered 4 3/4" from the nose of each tile. The clips shall be
0.043" thick by 1/2" wide, galvanized steel, attached with one 10d galvanized steel hand driven
nail located 1" from the 90 bend in the clip. The clip shall be inbedded in. mastic applied to the
roofing, at tie nail location.
Due to Hurricane Andrew, this office has been inundated with requests for both new

General
Application recomm,ndations detailed on pages 17 -20 shall apply in addition to
the following recommendations and specifications.
Application of Roofing Membrane
1 Over entire surfed!, lay one ply of Sheathing paper where applicable. Lap
each sheet 2 inches over preceding sheet, Nail sufficiently to hold In place,
2. Starting at the low point of the roof, lay one ply of GAFG LAS Base Sheet, lapping each
sheet 2 inches at edges and not less than 6 inches at end laps. Nail along lap of base ply
at intervals not to exceed 9 inches and stagger -nail down center of sheet in two rows with
nags spaced at 18 mch ntervals in each row. Use fasteners vr1h integral metal heads at
least 1 inch in diameter or square that are recommended by GAF or the deck manufac-
turer, See 'Special lnstructons' below.
3 Starting at the tow point of the roof, mop two plies of GAFGLAS Ply shingle
fashion; lapping each sheet 19 inches over the preced:ng sheet; solidly mopping
to the underlying bas sheet to provide three plies over the entire roof area.
Asphalt Requiremen s
Interply mappings of 3AF Roofing Asphalt must be applied in a continuous film
and shall consist of aliproxlmatety 25 pounds per 100 square feet of roof area
with a tolerance not tc exceed 20% plus or minus. The appropriate asphalt for
