1. DESCRIPTION OF UNIT
1.1 This approves an aluminum swing patio door designed to comply with the South Florida Building
Code, 1994 Edition for Dade County, for the locations where the pressure requirements, as determined by
ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Building and Other Structures ", do not exceed the Design
Pressure Rating values in Section 7 and within the limitations contained in Section 3.

2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Frame and Door Panel Material. Aluminum alloy 6063-1'6 & 6063 -T5.
2.2 Glazing
2.2.1 Glaiine Material. Full light, 3/16" tempered glass.
2.2.2 Glazing Method; Interior glazed using an adhesive bedding compound and an
'extruded aluminum snap -on glazing bead, with vinyl wedge between bead and glass.
2.2.3 Daylight Opening Size: 27 1/2" wide by 87 1/2"
2.3 Frame Construction;
2.3.1 }lead; An atrium frame head, 3/4" face x 4" deep x .078" wall thickness extruded aluminum
channel with a 1/2" x 1/2" pocket, two screw splines and one door stop fin, is used.
2.3.2 ,Iamb; A 1 1/2" face x 4" deep x .078" wall thickness extruded aluminum open back tube
with one door stop fin is used at the jambs.
2.3.3 Threshold; Bumper threshold is an open back extrusion 4" wide x 1/2" and 1 1/4" high x
.062" wall thickness with a 1/2" x 1/2" pocket, a groove for a vinyl bulb and two screw splines. A
2" long aluminum angle is attached, making the overall interior sill flange 3 3/8" high.
2.3.4 Corner construction; Corners are butt joined, frame sill corners are secured with two #I0 x
1" SMS, Frame head corners are secured with four #10 x I" SMS and each fixed light corner is
secured with two #I0 x 1" SMS.
2.4 Panel Construction:
2.4.1 Stiles; Consist of 1 3/4" deep x 3" face x .093" and .062" wall thickness extruded aluminum
hollow with two legs at one end designed to receive a glass adaptor and a snap -on glazing bead for
glazing. Glazing subfrarne is fastened around the perimeter to rail and stiles using #6 x 1" SMS.
2.4.2 Rails; A residential top and bottom rail, 1 3/4" deep x 3" face x .078" wall thickness
extruded aluminum hollow with two legs at both ends designed to receive a glazing subframe
adaptor and a snap -on glazing bead for glazing.

2.10 Sealants & Pads- The following are sealed with Schnee - Morehead 5504 sealant: each lower panel
corner on interior, each lower frame corner, each installation screw in frame sill and each jamb and

3.1 This approval applies to single unit applications only, as shown in Section 10. The following
configurations shall also qualify under this approval: X.

4. INSTALLATION
4.1 Screws and Method of Attachment
SILL : Four #I2 x 3" Pan Head SMS located at 6" from each corner and each side of midspan.

4.3 For retrofit installations where the existing buck is less than the required 2" nominal; use concrete
anchors instead of the fasteners above, the same amount and diameter and an appropriate length to go
through the buck and penetrate at least 1 1/4" into the masonry structure.
4.4 Fasteners must have their own Notice of Acceptance and must be made of stainless steel or have
adequate protection against corrosion, per DIN 50018. Aluminum contacting metals not considered
compatible shall be properly protected
5. IDENTIFICATION

1. Renewal of this Acceptance (approval) shall be considered after a renewal application has been filed and the original
submitted documentation, including test supporting data, engineering documents, are no older than eight (8) years.
2. Any and all approved products shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name. city, state, and the
following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ", or as specifically stated in the specific conditions of
this Acceptance.
3. Renewals of Acceptance will not be considered if:
a) There has been a change in the South Florida Building Code affecting the evaluation of
this product and the product is not in compliance with the code changes:
b) The product is no longer the same product (identical) as the one originally approved:
c) If the Acceptance holder has not complied with all the requirements of this acceptance,
including the correct installation of the product;
d) The engineer who originally prepared, signed and sealed the required documentation
initially submitted , is no longer practicing the engineering profession.

4. Any revision or change in the materials, use, and/or manufacture of the product or process shall automatically be
cause for termination of this Acceptance, unless prior written approval has been requested (through the filing of a
3 revision application with appropriate fee) and granted by this office.
5. Any of the following shall also be grounds for removal of this Acceptance:
a) Unsatisfactory performance of this product or process;
. b) Misuse of this Acceptance as an endorsement of any product, for sales, advertising or any
other purposes.

6. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Dade County, Florida, and followed by the expiration date
may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the Notice of Acceptance is displayed, then it shall be
done in its entirety.
7. A copy of this Acceptance as well as approved drawings and other documents, where it applies, shall be provided to
the user by the manufacturer or its distributors and shall be available for inspection at the job site at all times. The
copies need not be resealed by the engineer.
8. Failure to comply with any section of this Acceptance shall be cause for termination and removal of Acceptance.
9. This Acceptance contains pages I, 2, 2(a) through 2(e) and this last page 3.
Items 10. 11 Sr 12 listed below only apply to glazed products and doors
10. Unless specifically indicated in the Acceptance (approval), this unit is approved as a single unit installation. For
multiple installation of this unit, a separate Acceptance for mullions is required from the Product Control Section.
I. The spacing of fasteners at window sills shall be as tested. The spacing of fasteners in all other parts of the frame,
shall be as tested, but in no case shall exceed 24" on center. The first fastener shall be located at a maximum of 6"
from each corner and mullion or stile. Fastener shall fully penetrate the buck, which shall be the same size as the one
tested with the unit. No wood or plastic shields or pins shall be used for anchoring. See section four (4) of this
approval for sizes of fasteners used in testing.
12. Hardware for all windows and doors shall conform to Security and Forced Entry Prevention, Chapter 36 of the South
Florida Building Code.

reserves the right to secure this product or material at anytime from a jobsite or manufacturer's plant for
quality control testing. If this product or material fails to perform in the approved manner, the Code
Compliance Office may revoke, modify, or suspend the use of such product or material immediately. The
applicant shall re- evaluate this product or material should any ammendments to the South Florida Building
Code be enacted affecting this product or material. The Building Code Compliance Office reserves the
the right to revoke this approval, if it is determined by the Building Code Compliance Office that this

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
This approves an extruded aluminum storm panel designed to comply with the South Florida
Building Code, 1994 Edition for Dade County, for the locations where the pressure
requirements as determined by ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other
Structures ", do not exceed the Design Pressure Rating values in Section 7 and within the
limitations contained in Section 3.
2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1. The storm panels shall be constructed as indicated on approved drawing No. 94-45 Sheets 1
thru 3 of 3, using aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, with a typical wall thickness of .078 ".
2.2 Panel consist of a single extrusion having a total width of 11.50 ", forming 2.00" deep ribs and
a self - mating hook at each end.
2.3 Components shall be aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, extruded header and a 1 1/2" x 2" x 1/8" angle.
3. LIMITATIONS
3.1 The design will be dependent on the maximum panel height of 8' -0" or 96" for wall mount and
built -out condition and 7'- 6 7/8" or 90 7/8" for ceiling & floor mount, to be installed only as
outlined on drawing No. 94-45 Sheets 1 thru 3 of 3.
3.2 Minimum separation to existing glass to protect shall be 2 3/4 ".
3.3 Maximum clearance between top of panel and inside of header shall be 1/4 ".
3.4 Special Requirement: None
4. INSTALLATION
4.1. The panels shall be installed only in the following condition:

captured at the bottom by two 1 1/2" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum angles, where both are anchored to
a concrete slab or bulkhead, locking the panels with fasteners spaced as indicated on the
spacing table, as shown on approved detailed drawing No. 94 -45, Sheet 2 of 3, Section A -A,
bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp.
4.1.3 Build Out Mount
The panels are inserted at the top into the header which is attached with 1/4 " -20 x 3/4"
SS studs w /wing nuts to a 2" x 5" x 1/8" aluminum angle anchored to the wall; and captured at
the bottom by two 1 1/2" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum angles, fastened with 1/4 " -20 x 3/4" SS studs
w /wing nut, to each other and also to another 2" x 5" x 1/8" aluminum angle which in turn is
anchored to the wall below; end caps consisting of 3" x 2" x 1/8" or 2" x 2" x 1/8" aluminum
angles shall be installed at the sides to cover the gaps between wall and panels, as indicated on
the approved detailed drawing No. 94 -45, Sheet 2 of 3, Section B -B, bearing the Dade County
Product Control approval stamp.
4.1.4 Any combination of the above.
4:2 Anchorage of the header and angles shall be to concrete, masonry and/or wood framing and
shall consist of only the anchors, embedment and spacing specified on Drawing No. 94 -45,
Sheets 1 thru 3 of 3. Substitution of anchor type or indicated embedment is unacceptable and
requires to be engineered separately. Fasteners must have their own Notice of Acceptance.
4.3 Permanent set fastener components, embedded anchor bolts, threaded cones or metal shields,
not in use, must be protected against corrosion, contamination and damage at all time.
5. IDENTIFICATION
5.1 Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state and
following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ".
6. USE
6.1 Application for building permit shall be accompanied by two copies of the following:
6.1.1 This Notice of Acceptance.
6.1.2 Completely dimensioned drawing showing size and location, including height above
grade, of openings to receive shutters; mean roof height, length and width of building.
6.1.3 Duplicate prints of approved drawings No. 94 -45, Sheets 1 and 2 of 2, bearing the
approval stamp, Notice of Acceptance number and date by Dade County Product

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: STANDARD CONDITIONS
1. Extension of Acceptance may be considered after a new application has been filed and the
supporting data, test report no older than ten (10) years, have been re- evaluated.
All reports of re- testing shall bear the seal, signature and date of an engineer registered in the
State of Florida.
2. Any revision or change in the materials, use, or manufacture of the product or process shall
automatically be cause for termination, unless prior approval is granted for revisions or
change.
3. Any unsatisfactory performance of this product or process or a change in Code provisions shall
be ground for re- evaluation.
4. This acceptance shall not be used as an endorsement of any product for sales or advertising
purposes.
5. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Dade County, Florida, and followed
by the expiration date may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the Notice
of Acceptance is displayed, then it shall be done in its entirety.
6. A copy of this approval as well as approved drawings and other documents shall be provided
to the permit applicant by the manufacturer or his distributors and shall be available for
inspection at the job site at all time. The prints need not be re- sealed by the engineer.
7. Failure to comply with Standard Conditions shall be cause for termination of Approval.

IMPORTANT NOTICES
1. DO NOT BEGIN ANY WORK WITHOUT HAVING RECEIVED YOUR VALIDATED PERMIT AND PERMIT CARD. Applying for a permit does not grant
the right to begin construction. HOURS OF CONSTRUCTION are limited to: Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. No inspections will be conducted on weekends or holidays.
2. All construction of demolition areas MUST BE MAINTAINED IN A CLEAN, NEAT AND SANITARY CONDITION free from construction debris.
3. STREETS AND NEIGHBORING PROPERTIES SHALL BE KEPT FREE FROM DIRT AND DEBRIS.
4. SWALES MUST BE PROTECTED FROM BEING DAMAGED BY EQUIPMENT OR VEHICLES, AND MAY NOT BE USED FOR STORAGE. A bond is
required for work in or near the street/sidewalk.
5. CONSTRUCTION TRAILERS ARE PROHIBITED ON SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION SITES. Other construction may have a trailer
which requires a separate permit.
6. PORTABLE TOILETS for a construction site require a separate permit.
7. DO NOT DISCHARGE WATER INTO THE RIGHT OF WAY OR STORM DRAINS without approval from the Building, Planning and Zoning Department.
8. EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS SHALL BE STORED at least 10 feet from the edge of pavement.
9. Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) approval is required for applications involving septic tanks. Department of Environmental Resources
Management (DERM) and/or Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Department (MDWASD) approval is required for applications involving sewers.
