MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 The storm panels shall be constructed as indicated on approved Drawing No. 94012, Sheet 1 of 5, using 0.060" thick aluminum alloy 5052 -H32. 2.2 Panels have a nominal width of 12 -1/2" and a total width of 14 ", forming 1 -5/8" deep ribs. 2.3 Components shall be aluminum alloys 6063 -T6, extruded headers and angles of various sizes. 2.4 Tested specimen: Dimensions: 39" wide x 88" long overall, 3 panels for impact and cycling + 1 for structural. 39" wide x 88" long overall, 2 panels for impact and cycling + 1 for structural. 39" wide x 48" long overall, impact and structural. 39" wide x 120" long overall, impact. 39" wide x 144" long overall, impact and structural. 3. LIMITATIONS 3.1 The design will be dependent on the Design Pressure vs. Panel Span graph and table on Drawing No. 94012, Sheet 3 of 5. INSTALLATION 4.1 The panels shall be installed only in the following condition: 4.1.1 Wall Mount (Direct Mount) The panels are secured at the head and sill, EITHER directly to 1/2" x 7/8" Rawl Calk -In anchors embedded in the wall, spaced at 12 -1/2" o.c., using 1/4" —20 machine screws and Key Hole Washers (Direct Mount), OR inside a top track ( "h" header) at the head, which is anchored to the wall, and fastened to the 2" x 2" x 1/8" continuous studded aluminum angle at the sill, using 1/4" —20 x 3/4" studs w /washered wing nut spaced at 12 -1/2" o.c. as shown on Drawing No. 94012, Sheets 1 through 5 of 5, Wall Mount Sections, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp. 4.1.2 Buildout Mount The panels are secured inside a "U" header which in turn is fastened, using 1/4 " -20 thru bolts with lock nuts spaced at 12" o.c., to the long leg of a 2 -1/4" x 5 -1/4" x 1/8" continuous aluminum angle at the head; this same arrangement is reversed and used at the sill, except that a 2" x 2" x 1/8" continuous studded aluminum angle is used instead of the header and the panels are fastened thru the 1/4" —20 x 3/4" SS knurled studs and washered wing nuts spaced at 12 -1/2" o.c. The aluminum angle is used to provide the build -out and is anchored to the wall, as shown on Drawing No. 94012, Sheets 1 through 5 of 5, Build -Out Section, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp. 4.1.3 Ceiling/Inside Mount The panels are secured inside a top track "U" header at the head, which is anchored to the inside of a concrete lentil opening and fastened to the 2" x 2" x 1/8" continuous studded aluminum angle at the sill, using 1/4 " -20 x 3/4" studs w /washered wing nuts spaced at 12 -1/2" o.c., which is anchored to a concrete slab or bulkhead, as shown on Drawing No. 94012, Sheets 1 through 5 of 5, Inside Mount Section, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp. 4.1.4 Anv combination of the above. 4.2 Anchorage of the headers and aluminum angles shall be to concrete, masonry and/or wood framing, and shall consist of only the anchors, embedment and spacing specified on Drawing No. 94012, Sheets 1 through 5 of 5. Substitution of anchor type or indicated embedment is unacceptable and requires to be engineered separately. Renewal of this Acceptance (approval) shall be considered after a renewal application has been filed and the original submitted documents, including test - supporting data, engineering documents, are no older than eight (8) years. Any and all approved products shall be permanently labeled with the manufacturer's name, city, state, and the following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approval ", or as specifically stated in the specific conditions of this Acceptance. 3. Renewals of Acceptance will not be considered if: a) There has been a change in the South Florida Building Code affecting the evaluation of this product and the product is not in compliance with the code changes; b) The product is no longer the same product (identical) as the one originally approved; c) If the Acceptance holder has not complied with all the requirements of this acceptance, including the correct installation of the product; d) The engineer who originally prepared, signed and sealed the required documentation initially submitted, is no longer practicing the engineering profession. 4. Any revision or change in the materials, use, and/or manufacture of the product or process shall automatically be cause for termination of this Acceptance, unless prior written approval has been requested (through the filing of a revision application with appropriate fee) and granted by this office. 5. Any of the following shall also be grounds for removal of this Acceptance: a) Unsatisfactory performance of this product or process; b) Misuse of this Acceptance as an endorsement of any product, for sales, advertising or any other purposes. 6. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Dade County, Florida, and followed by the expiration date may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the Notice of Acceptance is displayed, then it shall be done in its entirety. 7. A copy of this Acceptance as well as approved drawings and other documents, where it applies, shall be provided to the user by the manufacturer or its distributors and shall be available for inspection at the job site at all time. The engineer need not reseal the copies. 8. Failure to comply with any section of this Acceptance shall be cause for termination and removal of Acceptance. 9. This Acceptance contains pages 1, 2, 2(a) through 2(c) and this last page 3. Items 10, 11 & 12 listed below only apply to glazed products and doors 10. Unless specifically indicated in the Acceptance (approval), this unit is approved as a single unit installation. For multiple installation of this unit, a separate Acceptance for mullions is required from the Product Control Section. 11. The spacing of fasteners at window sills shall be as indicated in Section 4 of this Notice of Acceptance. The spacing of fasteners in all other parts of the frame, shall be as indicated in Section 4 of this Notice of Acceptance, but in no case shall exceed 24" on center. The first fastener shall be located at a maximum of 6" from each corner and mullion or stile. Fastener shall fully penetrate the buck, which shall be the same size as the one tested with the unit. No wood or plastic shields or pins shall be used for anchoring. See section four (4) of this approval for sizes of fasteners used in testing. 12.
