Attached is the letter I sent to the company that installed the
garage door. I have also sent them the notarized permit and a check for
$37.50 made out to Miami Shores Village for it. I was very angry when
neither Home Depot nor the garage installation company admitted they
made a mistake and they went ahead and put the door in without a permit.
could not imagine they would be so irresponsible, especially after I had
made it clear that they would get the permit when I bought the door.
There was never any intentional wrongdoing on my part. I have
always complied and gotten permits for everythinhg done to the house. I
feel it would be an injustice to penalize me for someone else's
wrongdoing.
The permit should be on its way anyday now. Thank you for

When I last spoke with your company last week, you indicated that
you would get the permit for me. Miami Shores charges $37.50 for the
garage door installation permit.
am very disaappointed and upset that Home Depot did not charge me
for a permit, as I has specifically asked, and they assured me had been
done. Miami Shores is very strict in its policies and I do not enjoy hearing
from them that I did not comply. I have always taken out permits for the
many jobs done to the house. In addition, I am alarmed that your company
would install a garage door illegally and say nothing about the permit at
any time. This is not the way to do business.
Because different cities have different regulations concerning this,
it should be your policy to make sure a permit has been obtained as much
as it should have been my duty to double check it and not take Home
Depot's word for it. However, I do not feel I did anything wrong in the
matter and will be very upset should there be any late penalty. I'm hoping
that they will see this as a mistake and act accordingly.
The permit is enclosed as well as the check made to Miami Shores
Village.
