SECTION 1 — GENERAL CONDITIONS
1 -01 SPECIAL NOTE:
(A) The "General Conditions of the Contract," fifth edition, issued by the American Institute of
Architects, shall form a part of this specification and shall govern the work in all respects except
as modified herein. Copies of the "General Conditions of the Contract" are on file and may be re-
ferred to at the office of the Architect.
(B) The plans and these specifications are cooperative; the specifications are intended to cover,
in general, the requirements as to quality and character of materials and workmanship; the plans,
together with notes thereon, will set forth specific requirements for the work, and such notes shall
be considered as in full force and effect, though such requirements may not be particularly men-
tioned in these specifications.
1 -02 BIDS:
The Owner or his Architect reserves the right to reject any or all the bids and to select the suc-
cessful bidder as he sees fit.
1 -03 EXAMINATION OF SITE:
The Contractor shall visit the site and familiarize himself with the location and all\ conditions that
may affect the progress of the proposed work. No claims for additional allowances will be granted
because of lack of knowledge of such conditions.
1 -04 ORDINANCES AND REGULATIONS:
All requirements of local and state ordinances and regulations relating to building and the preser-
vation of public health and safety shall be observed by all contractors.
1 -05 PERMITS:
The General Contractor shall procure and pay for general building permits. Special permits shall be
taken out and paid for by the Contractor for such work.
1 -06 PROTECTION OF PROPERTY:
The Contractor shall erect necessary boxing for trees, shrubbery, etc., erect fences and walks and
maintain warning lights where necessary at night.
1 -07 TAXES:
Each Contractor shall discharge any and all obligations due the State and Federal Governments
under the requirement of the State Documentary Stamp Tax Act, the State Retail Sales Tax Act and
the Federal Security Act.
1 -08 CONTRACTOR'S LIABILITY AND WORKMAN'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE:
The Owner will sign with the General Contractor the Standard Form of the A. I. A.— "Contract be-
tween Owner and Contractor" which will stipulate that the Owner will maintain and pay for fire
and tornado insurance in proportionate amounts as the work progresses. The Contractor must main-
tain and pay for Workman's Compensation Insurance according to Workmen's Compensation Act

effective July 1, 1936, including liability and Contingent Liability Insurance which shall thoroughly
protect the owner and contractor from any claims for damages or personal injury, including death,
to anyone, which may arise from operations under this contract. Certificates of such insurance shall
be filed with the Owner, 'vith a clause in such certificate requiring at least ten (10) days written
notice in the event of cancellation, and shall be subject to his approval for adequacy of protection.
1 -09 SANITARY CONVENIENCES:
The Contractor shall erect temporary closet for the workmen on the job, and maintain it in a clean
and orderly condition at all times. At the completion of the work, he shall remove same and its con-
tents.
1 -10 WATER METER:
The General Contractor shall arrange with the water company through the plumbing contractor, for
a tap to the water main and installation of a water meter. The General Contractor shall pay for tap
and all water charges, including meter deposit, for construction purposes. Meter and deposit shall
be changed to Owner's name at the completion of the contract.
1 -11 LAYING OUT WORK:
The principal lines, levels and necessary grades for the construction of the building are shown on
the accompanying drawings and shall be followed accurately by the contractor. The Contractor
will be held entirely responsible for the proper laying opt and construction of the work contem-
plated by this specification and the accompanying plans.
1 -12 CLEARING OF SITE:
The General Contractor shall clear the entire building site of all rubbish, brush and other objection-
able matter. All trees within the area of the building or driveway shall be transplanted on the plot
as directed by the owner.
1 -13 CUTTING AND PATCHING:
The Contractor shall do all necessary cutting and patching so the several parts of the work fit cor-
rectly and shall leave the building complete as one unit.
1 -14 CASH ALLOWANCES:
Where cash allowances are made, they do not include Contractor's profit. Contractor to include
such materials, work and installation costs as are required for a complete job in every respect, un-
less otherwise specified. In connection with such work, the General Contractor is to construct or set
all adjoining work as that work under these items can be set just as if same were included in the
General Contract.
The full amount of cash allowances shall be construed as being credits to the Owner in their full
value as set up in this contract, and do not include contractor's fees. Should the final cost of the
work included in these allowances be less than the amount of the allowance, then the Owner shall
be credited the difference. However, should the final cost of the allowances exceed said allow-
ances, the Owner will pay, net, the difference, in excess without adding a contractor's fee. All work
covered by allowances will be contracted for direct through the Architect's office.

SECTION 2 — EARTHWORK
2 -01 SCOPE OF WORK:
This work includes all necessary earth and rock excavating, filling and back - filling, rough and fin-
ished grading necessary for footings, foundation walls, terraces, etc., shown on the plans. The
plumber and electrician shall do all excavating and back - filling necessary for their work.
2 -02 FILL AND BACK -FILL:
Material from excavations shall be used for back - filling and rough grading. Where additional fill is
required such material shall be clean and free from rubbish or other objectionable matter.
2 -03 GRADING:
The finished grading will be done by the landscaper. The General Contractor shall fill or excavate
as necessary to bring the rough grade to a point two (2) inches below the' finished grades shown on
the drawings at the building line. From these levels, the grades shall be worked down to meet the
natural grade at a point approximately ten (10) feet from the building in all directions.
SECTION 3 — CONCRETE, MASONRY & STEEL
3 -01 SCOPE OF WORK:
This part of the contract shall include all materials, labor, equipment and scaffolding for plain
and reinforced concrete work, cement block work, brick work, cement floors, vents and all other
miscellaneous masonry necessary for the completion of the building as shown on the drawings.

3 -02 MATERIALS:
The following list of masonry materials cover items generally used. Materials shall be the best of
their respective kinds.
CEMENT: Shall be Portland cement conforming to the current standard specifications of the
A. S. T. M.
MASONRY CEMENT: Shall be "Florida Masonry" cement or approved equal.
SAND: Shall be clean, sharp and free from any foreign or deleterious matter, and shall be
graded from coarse to fine.
BROKEN ROCK: Shall be clean and hard, graded in size from 1 / 4 " to %", unless otherwise
CONCRETE BLOCK: Shall be approved manufacture, 8" x 8" x 16 ", conforming to the re-
quirements of local building codes, and bearing the Underwriter's Certificate of Approval.
CEMENT BRICKS: Shall `be approved manufacture, and shall be well cured, hard and of
standard sizes.
SLUMPED BRICK:
CLASS -B1146 mortar.

WATER: Shall be from the city mains.
CAST STONE FLAGGING: Shall be 24" x 24" x 2" thick, set on concrete slab.
Shall be of concrete vibrated and slumped.
3 -03 REINFORCING STEEL:
All steel bars shall be of the sizes noted on the structural drawings, and shall be new intermediate
grade, correctly fabricated, placed and held rigidly by ties and chairs.
3 -04 FORMS:
All forms shall be constructed of required sizes for structural members shown on the drawings.
Form -work shall be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of cement, and shall be braced and shored so as
to avoid distortion when the concrete is placed.
3 -05 CONCRETE:
Unless otherwise noted, all plain and reinforced concrete shall be mixed in proportions of 1 part
cement, 2 parts sand, 3% parts stone, with sufficient water to provide a plastic and workable
mix.
3 -06 FINISH CEMENT FLOORS:
All floor surfaces marked "Cement" shall be plain cement, with slope or pitch indicated on plans.
Where colored cement is noted, the color selected shall be integrally mixed with the topping
materials.
3 -07 MASONRY WORK:
All masonry units shall be laid up true and plumb in a substantial and workmanlike manner. Cem-
ent brick may be used for incidental filling where necessary in masonry work. All masonry units shall
be laid on full mortar beds, carefully filling in the vertical joints. Exposed masonry units shall have
the joints wiped with gunny sack.
3 -08 MORTAR:
Mortar for all masonry work shall be composed of one -half ( sack of Portland Cement, one (1)
sack of masonry cement, four and one -half (4 cubic feet of sand. Mortar shall be used within 1
hours mixing. No mortar shall be retempered.
3 -09 VENTS:
Preca stock screened vents shall be installed in the masonry as indicated on the plans.
3 -10 MISCELLANEOUS IRON:
The mason shall build in all miscellaneous iron and steel such as angle lintels, joist and rafter an-
chors, hangers, bolts, etc. as may be required to fully complete the work.
3 -11 WALKS AND DRIVES:
Shall be as noted on the plans.

SECTION 4 CARPENTRY AND MILLWORK
4 -01 SCOPE OF WORK:
The work contemplated under this section includes the furnishing of all materials and labor neces-
sary for all rough carpentry, form work, framin g and finish carpentry, interior and exterior mill-
work, and all other work as may be reasonably implied as belonging to carpentry.
4 -02 FORM WORK:
Shall be built in accordance with Paragraph No. 3 -03, Section 3.
4 -03 FRAMING LUMBER:
All dimension lumber, except as otherwise noted, shall be No. 2 common pine. All exposed timbers for
beams, show rafters, etc., shall be select heart pine or fir unless otherwise noted. Where cypress
timber is noted on the plans, such timber shall be clear cypress. Treat all timber ends in masonry
with Cromated Zinc Chloride or other approved preservative.
4 -04 STUDDING AND PLATES:
All studding, unless otherwise noted, shall be 2" x 4" spaced not to exceed 16" centers. All non-
bearing partitions shall have a single top and bottom plate. For bearing partitions the top plate
shall be doubled. Studs shall be doubled at all openings, and heads shall be doubled for all open-
ings four feet or less. Heads of openings exceeding four feet shall be trussed. All partitions shall
have fire stops out in midway between the plates, or at intervals not to exceed five feet. Starting
studs, framed in contact with masonry walls and wall plates shall be treated with an approved
preservative and shall be bolted or otherwise securely anchored to the masonry, in accordance with
the local building code.

4 -05 JOISTS AND RAFTERS:
All floor joists shall be of the sizes and spacings noted on the plans. Rafters and ceiling joists shall
be 2" x 6" spaced at 16" centers, unless other sizes and spacings are shown. Floor joists shall be set
crown side up and shall be double under all partitions running parallel to the joists. Ends of all
joists framed into masonry or secured to wall plates shall be treated with an approved preserva-
tive. Cross bridge all joists at intervals not to exceed six feet with 1" x 4" cross bridging. Rafters
shall be properly seated on the bearing plates, well spiked and anchored as required by the local
building code, using galvanized anchors. Ceiling joists shall be securely spiked to each rafter, or
otherwise anchored as may be required.
4 -06 SHEATHING:
All roof surfaces shall be sheathed solid with 1" x 6" T. & G. No. 2 pine sheathing, securely laid with
at least two nails to each bearing. Wood subfloors shall be secured with at least two nails to each
bearing. Exposed overhanging eaves, unless otherwise noted, shall be sheathed with B and better
1" x 6" T. & G. V. grooved sheathing
4 -07 FURRING:
Unless otherwise noted, the interior of all masonry walls shall be furred with 1" x 2" furring. Fur-
ring shall be treated with an approved preservative and shall be securely nailed to the masonry
with case hardened cut nails. Where tile wainscotes occur, with plaster walls above, (11/2") fur-
ring occures above the tile, to the end that tile plaster surfaces shall finish on the same plane.
Where furring occurs adjacent to chimneys, 1 / 8 " sheet asbestos shall be applied between the masonry
and the furring.

4 -09 EXTERIOR WOODWORK:
Otherwise noted, all exterior woodwork such as show rafters, wood cornices, etc., shall be selected
dense pine or selected fir. Exterior wood frames, grilles and moulding around door or window
frames shall be velvet pine.
4 -10 EXTERIOR DOOR FRAMES:
All exterior door frames shall be of velvet pine rabbetted for door and screen. Frames shall be pro-
vided with stucco or brick moulds loose nailed for caulking. All exterior door frames shall be treated
with an approved preservative before delivery to the job. Exterior door frames shall be thoroughly
caulked with an approved plastic compound.
4 -15 CABINETS:
Kitchen cabinets shall be as shown. Other cabinets, cases, shelves, etc., shall be provided and in-
stalled in accordance with plans and details.
4 -16 CLOSET FITTINGS:
Except as otherwise shown or specified, all closets shall be fitted with two shelves, a clothes pole,
hook strip and shoe rack. Clothes pole shall be 3/ " galvanized pipe. Unless otherwise noted, closets
shall be finished the same as the adjoining room.
4 -17 ROUGH HARDWARE:
The contractor shall furnish all rough hardware required in connection with the construction, such
as nails, screws, bolts, anchors, straps, etc. Garage door equipment shall be provided under this
heading as required.
4 -18 FINISH HARDWARE:
All finish hardware shall be provided under a cash allowance. Before the painter starts his work,
all hardware shall be accurately and completely set, fitted, removed, identified and marked as to
location, stored away until after the painting is completed, then carefully and accurately reset.
4 -19 MEDICINE CABINETS:
Medicine cabinets shall be provided under a cash allowance. Cabinets shall be installed by this
Contractor.
4 -20 WOOD FLOORS:
All finish wood floors shall be of the kind noted on the plans, and shall be securely blind nailed to
the sub -floor; sanded smooth, and finished with stain, a paste wood filler, two coats shellac and
waxed.
4 -21 LINOLEUM:
Where linoleum is indicated on the plans, such material shall be standard gauge inlaid linoleum laid
according to the best common practice. Wood floors under linoleum shall be B and better pine
flooring, sanded.
4 -22 MISCELLANEOUS:
Reference shall be made to the plans for items of carpentry millwork not specially mentioned here-
in.
SECTION 5 - ROOFING AND SHEETMETAL
5 -01 SCOPE OF WORK:
The work proposed under this specification shall include all labor, material, equipment and serv-
ices necessary for, and relevant to, the installation of all roofing, flashing and other sheetmetal work,
to the end that all work shall be watertight at completion. Rosin shall be used as a flux for all
copper work.

4 -11 WINDOWS:
All windows, unless otherwise noted, shall be Residential Steel casements of standard types. Sections
shall be hot - rolled, solid steel bars, with weathering baffles rolled integrally to provide continuous
double contact between the frame and casement leaf members. Corners shall be mitered, electri-
cally butt welded and forged. The frame members shall be prepared for the attachment of screen
fittings. All casement leaves shall be side hinged to open out and equipped with cleaning type hinges.
Each casement leaf shall have operating adjusters at the sill and shall be equipped with a cam ac-
tion locking handle. All windows shall receive standard Bonderized finish. A separate screen, designed
for easy attachment, shall be supplied for each casement. Frames shall be cold -rolled steel, Bonder -
ized and painted with gray primer, dipped on and baked dry. Screen cloth shall be 18 mesh. All
screen fitting shall be Bronze Wire. All sash shall be glazed with single strength glass. Caulk
around all frames.

4 -12 INTERIOR WOODWORK:
All interior woodwork that is to receive paint finish, shall be velvet pine. All interior door frames
shall be provided with applied stops. All sliding doors shall be provided with wood frame pockets.
Tracks shall be Harvey "FW6 ".
4 -13 DOORS:
All doors shall be of fir of sizes and design noted on door schedule, and shall be of mortize and
ten -non construction. Louvered doors shall be of operating or stationary type louvers as noted on
plans. All glass panels, unless otherwise noted, shall be D. S. A. glass, or plate glass as noted on
drawings.
4 -13 (B) GARAGE DOORS:
All doors shall be fir 1%" thick, with panels or applied mouldings, folding or awning type, as noted
on drawings. Hardware for garage doors shall be Stanley or equal manufacture.
4 -14 SCREENS:
Unless otherwise noted, all screen doors shall be of clear fir with 18 mesh bronze screen wire. All
nails shall be copper. But strip shall be provided at bottom of all screen doors.

5 -02 ROOFING MATERIALS:
Roofing shall be of the type and kind as noted on the plans, laid over a 30# felt, tin tagged, and,
a 90# slate surfaced felt mopped down. Lap felts 3" and cover hips and ridges with a 12" strip of
90# felt.
5 -03 ROOFING:
The entire roof shall be covered with white__ m.li 41t shit!rie tile.
5 -06 NAILS:
All nails used in connection with sheetmetal work shall be hard copper nails.
5 -07 TERMITE SHIELD:
Install galvanized termite shields, for complete termite protection.
5 -08 MISCELLANEOUS:
Reference shall be made to the plans for special items of sheetmetal work.
SECTION 6— MISCELLANEOUS IRON, BRONZE, ETC.
5 -04 FLASHING:
All intersections of the roof with vertical surfaces of every nature shall be flashed and counter
flashed with 16 ounce soft roofing- temper copper. All pipes passing through the roof shall be
flashed and counter flashed. Counter flashing shall be caulked into the hubs or held with brass
clamps embedded in elastic cement or white lead.
5 -05 EAVE DRIPS:
Unless otherwise noted, all eaves shall be provided with metal eave drips as noted on the plans.
6 -01 SCOPE OF WORK:
Reference shall be made to paragraph #18, section #4, for items called for as "rough hardware ". All
other miscellaneous iron, bronze, etc., shall be provided as noted on plans.

6 -03 VENETIAN BLIND GUIDES:
6 -02 THRESHOLDS AND WEATHERSTRIPPING:
This Contractor shall provide and install white metal weatherstrips and 3 aluminum threshholds
on all doors noted on door schedule.
Unless otherwise specifically noted, all window openings shall be provided with solid brass chanel
guides, recessed into the jambs.
6 -04 SLIDING DOORS:
Sliding door tracks shall be of the type noted on plans, and shall be provided by this Contractor.

SECTION 7 — LATH, PLASTER AND STUCCO
7 -01 SCOPE OF WORK:
The work proposed under this specification shall include all material, labor, equipment and services
necessary for and relevant to the installation of all lath, plaster and stucco work throughout the in-
terior and exterior portions of the building.
7 -02 LATHING:
All walls and ceilings, except where otherwise noted, shall be lathed with 5' 16" Gypsum plaster
base or rock lath securely nailed to furring, studs or joists with galvanized nails. A strip of 20
gauge galvanized wire fabric shall be applied continuously around all plaster openings shown on
plans and around the inside and outside corners or intersections of walls and ceilings.
7 -03 METAL LATH:
Walls, wainscotes or other surfaces to be tiled or plastered with cement plaster, shall be lathed with
2.4 pound galvanized expanded metal lath.
7 -04 PLASTER:
Unless otherwise noted or specified, the entire interior of the building shall be plastered on lath or
masonry. Plaster shall be applied over metal lath in three coats; and over masonry or rock lath in
two coats. All interior walls and ceilings, except in kitchen and bath room, or as otherwise noted,
shall be sand finish with color added to the finish coat. Plaster in ldtchen and bath shall be smooth
trowel finish. All plastering shall be brought out flush with the grounds, and plastering adjacent to
the tile work shall be finished flush to the face of the tile, or 1/16" back of tile cap or base. All
plaster shall be U. S. Gypsum, or equal. Refer to plans for run molds or special plaster require-
ments.
7 -05 CEMENT PLASTER:
Where cement plaster is noted, this shall be composed of one part cement and two parts sand, ap-
plied in two coats. A scratch coat shall be applied to surfaces to receive tile work. Unless otherwise
noted, cement plaster shall be sand finish.
7 -06 STUCCO:
Except where otherwise noted, all exterior walls, jambs, heads and sills of windows or other open-
ings in wall surfaces, shall receive two coats of cement stucco. Stucco shall be composed of one
part Portland cement and two parts sand, waterproofed with "Sec ", "Fluresit" or other approved
compound, mixed in accordance with manufacturers' directions. Refer to plans for run molds or other
special stucco requirements.
7 -08 CUTTING AND PATCHING:
This Contractor shall do all necessary cutting and patching of plaster or stucco as required after
other trades. Patching must be done in a neat and workmanlike manner, leaving neither stains nor
cracks.
SECTION 8 - PAINTING
8 -01 WORK INCLUDES:
The painting or finishing of all exterior woodwork, metal work and cement surfaces and the finish-
ing of all interior woodwork and plaster.
8 -02 IN GENERAL:
All nail holes, cracks and small defects shall be puttied and all surfaces properly cleaned and pre-
pared before painting or finishing. Cover knots with shellac before priming coat. Do not paint on

green or wet lumber or during damp, rainy weather. Paint or varnish to be best quality of ap-
proved manufacture, delivered in original sealed packages. Painter shall submit color samples of in-
terior and exterior finish, for the approval of the owner.
8 -03 INTERIOR WOODWORK AND TRIM:
Except as noted, shall receive one coat of oil paint in colors as selected, and an additional coat of
half flat and half enamel. Where cathedral or exposed wood ceilings are indicated, those shall be
stained and antiqued as directed.
To all woodwork in kitchen and baths, apply two coats of enamel under coater, then one coat of
interior gloss enamel, tinted as directed.
Cupboards, cabinets, open shelves, etc., shall be painted on the inside, and outside and on the
edges; tops and bottoms of all shelves, doors, drawers, etc.
8 -04 EXTERIOR WOODWORK AND TRIM:
Exterior woodwork, including doors, sash and frames, etc., shall receive three coats of lead and oil
paint, tinted as directed. Each coat of paint shall be allowed to dry at least 36 hours before appli-
cation of the next coat.
8 -05 INTERIOR PLASTER WALLS AND CEILINGS:
In the kitchen and baths paint one coat of a primer sealer, one coat of undercoat and one coat of
gloss enamel, colors as selected. All other plaster surfaces shall remain unpainted.
8 -06 EXTERIOR STUCCO:
Shall receive two coats "Sec" stucco paint, tinted as directed.
SECTION 9 -TILE AND TERRAZZO
9 -01 WORK INCLUDES:
Tile floors, wainscote and accessories in each bath, kitchen drain tile, etc., as noted on plans. Set
tiles with miracle adhesive as per manufacturers' specification.
9 -02 BATHS:
Shall have tile floors, tile wainscote 4'6" high and 6'0" high over tub or shower, in colors selected.
Six pieces tile accessories.
9 -03 KITCHEN:
Counters, splash and ends to have 4 x 4 tile.
9 -04 WINDOW SILLS:
Furnish and install bullnose tile sills for all windows and for ledges as noted. Kitchen and baths to
have sills matching the tile.

9 -07 CLEANING:

SECTION 10 - PLUMBING
10 -01 WORK INCLUDES:
A complete system of plumbing, piping, fixtures, sewage disposal for all fixtures indicated or speci-
fied. Conformance to the local and state ordinances and regulations is required. No part of the work
shall be covered in before it is examined by the inspector and the Architect.
10 -02 SOIL AND VENTLINES:
Unless otherwise required by ordinances, use standard weight cast iron pipe and fitting. Joints shall
be made with picked cakum and tightly caulked with lead. Vent pipe for closets shall be 4" cast
iron pipe. Other vents shall be 2" cast iron pipe, all vents thoroughly lead flashed at the roof with
flashing extended to the top and turned down in pipe. Run house sewer to septic tank or city sewer
as noted on plans.
10 -03 A CLEANOUT:
Shall be accessibly placed at the foot of each stack, and at all changes in direction. Where clean -
outs are not accessible under the house, they shall be flush type with brass screw cap set in finish
floor.
10 -04 WATER SERVICE:
Shall be line provided by the General Contractor from the city main to the meter at property line.
From the meter the plumber shall run a supply line to the building and run water to each fixture.
10 -05 VALVES:
Shall have stem with removable loose disc of hard fibre. Concealed valves shall have removable
seats and disc accessible from the face of the wall. Provide valves in supply lines to each closet,
lavatory and "sink. Provide control valve and drain at entrance to building.
10 -06 HOT AND COLD WATER SUPPLY:
Shall be standard galvanized pipe, or copper tubing, and fittings. Pipe shall be reamed inside at
fittings. Provide air chambers at fixtures. Size of pipe shall be adequate to number of fixtures sup-
plied.

10 -07 WATER HEATER:
Install an Electric = ', Automatic Storage type water heater, size as noted on plans, piped to
all fixtures except closets.
10 -08 PIPE HANGERS:
Of heavy galvanized iron and shall solidly and rigidly support all piping. Pipes other than galvan-
ized shall be wrapped at the hanger.
10 -09 SILL COCKS:
Shall be compression type brass rough nickle finish. Valves shall be %" threaded for 3/ " garden
hose. See plans for number and location.
10 -10 TEST:
The entire system shall be tested after installation. Any leaks which occur shall be made water-
tight. Plumber shall be responsible for giving Architect and Inspector notice when system is ready
for inspection.
10 -11 DISPOSAL:
Provide sewage disposal in accordance with requirement shown on plans.
10 -12 FIXTURES:
Shall conform to the plumbing list below, and shall be Standard, Kohler, or Crane.

SECTION 11— ELECTRICAL WORK
11 -01 WORK INCLUDES:
A complete system of wiring for doorbell, radio and lighting, including necessary panel boards, cut-
outs, pull boxes, etc., required by local or state ordinances or underwriter's rules. The system shall
be complete in every respect at completion.
11 -02 CODE RULES:
Of the National Board of Fire Underwriter's, local Electrical Ordinances and regulations of the Local
Power and Light Company shall be minimum requirements.

11 -04 RUBBER COVERED WIRE:
No wire shall be less than #12 B. S. gauge, for runs of 50 feet or over, and #14 B. S. gauge for
smaller runs. Leave wire terminal in all outlet b oxes properly poled and taped. Main switch shall
be of required capacity.
11 -05 CONVENIENCE OUTLETS:
Shall be duplex type receptacles, white bakelite finish, place 12" to center above finish floor unless
otherwise directed.
11 -06 SWITCHES:
Shall be square handle toggle switches, 4'0" above finish floor, white bakelite finish.
11 -07 DOOR SIGNAL:
Flush type buzzer shall be installed in kitchen operated from call bells shown.
11 -08 PANEL
Shall be as required, ten light outlets per circuit. "Westinghouse" or equal make.
11 -09 WIRING FOR TELEPHONE:
If indicated shall be run in galvanized steel tubing. Entrance to building shall be as indicated.
11 -10 LIGHTING FIXTURES:
See cash allowances. Electrician shall provide fixture stubs in all outlet boxes. He shall furnish and
install elements for built -in fixtures, as noted, and shall hang all fixtures.
11 -11 MISCELLANEOUS:
Reference shall be made to the plans for special outlets or electrical requirements not particularly
mentioned herein, and all such items shall be included in the contract. Include electric connections
to water heater or solar booster.
11 -12 SPACE HEATERS:
Each bathroom shall have a 1000 Watt Thermador recessed bathroom heater. All other heaters
shall be fan type Thermador of wattage shown on plans. The location of these heaters shall be veri-
fied before installation.
11 -13 GUARANTEE:
All materials installed under this contract shall b e guaranteed in writing to the Architect for a
period of twelve (12) months after final acceptance of the work. Under this guarantee, the Con-
tractor shall repair or replace at his own expense any parts which may become defective or due
to poor workmanship within that time. The guarantee shall accompany the request for final pay-
ment.
