To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is to inform you of intended design changes that will be included in the patio /
bath addition currently under construction at my property located at 567 NE 96 St. Y
have written this letter based on a recommendation made by Al Berg during a phone
conversation the week of August 12, 2002. The changes outlined in this letter will be
documented by marking up the job site drawing set during the course of construction.
Near the end of the job, the structural engineer will update the drawings and they will be
submitted to the Miami Shores Building Department. The proposed changes to date are as
follows:
O Sidewalk extension - the current sidewalk on the east side of the house will be
extended to include the ballroom addition. Width and style will be identical to
the existing sidewalk.
• Gas grill and ventilation - A self - contained stainless steel gas grill will be placed
on the south west corner of the patio. A stainless steel ventilation hood will be
installed over the grill. The,hood will have an 1100 cfm ventilation fan, grease
filtration, and will exhaust through the roof by means of a 10 -inch round metal
duct capped by exhaust vent flashing. Power to the exhaust hood will be a
dedicated 20 -amp circuit.
• Bath ventilation fan / heater /light —A combination ventilation fan / heater / light
will be installed in ceiling of the bathroom addition. The fan will exhaust through
the roof by means of a 4 -inch round metal duct capped by exhaust vent flashing.
Power to the ventilation fan / heater / light will be a dedicated 20 amp circuit.
• Bath A/C duct drop —An air conditioner duct drop will be added to the ceiling of
the bath addition. Duct will be run by means of a 4 inch flexible material and will
tie in to the existing mixing / distribution box in the NE corner of the house.

• Bath overhang / soffit — the engineering drawings for the bath addition show the
overhang / soffit as stucco. This detail is incorrect. They should be constructed
from wood with a continuous screen vent underneath to match the existing house.
• Porch west overhang — The overhang on the west end of the porch addition is
incorrectly represented. The engineering drawings currently show no overhang.
The architectural design called for a two -foot overhang on the west end of the
patio to match the front of the patio and the existing house, Calculations for the
flat roof area for the bath and patio additions were performed for the roof with a
two foot overhang included on the west end and were well below the allowable 15
percent.
