Application of Base Ply'. 2
Apply PERMAPLY base ply with 2' (min. 1 ") side laps and
end laps. Mechanically secure maximum 9" o.c. at side laps and
maximum 18' o.c. on two lines 11 -13" from each edge (staggered).
Mechanical securement using mechanical fasteners recommended
by the deck manufacturer. Large -head Simplex nails (minimum
"X." head diameter), or the Senco Fastening system may be used
on wood or plywood decks only. To minimize wrinkles and buckles
allow enough time for base ply to relax unrolled prior to attachment.
Application of Plies
Embed three plies of PERMAPLY in shingle fashion (starter sheets
required), lapping 241' into uniform solid moppings of hot bitumen,
using 23 -45 lb/100 ft per ply. Starter plies should be cut to dimen-
sions so as to preclude coincident side laps to the base ply. Plies
may be left exposed up to three months without surfacing.
Application of Surface
• Bitumen —coat entire surface using a uniform, solid 15 -20 lb/
100 ft mopping of hot bitumen.
• Emulsion —coat entire surface using not Tess than 3 gal /100 ft?
• Aluminum Coating —coat entire surface using 1.5-2 gal /10011'
appied with brush o squeegee
' Base Pty —may be specified PERMAPLY Na 28, PERMAPLY No. 80
PERMAPLY-IV, PERMAPLY -8, or PERMAPLY-R. If PERMAPLY Na 28
base sheet or PERMAPLY No. 80 not used, base ply used must be
the same as the ply felts.
'Red Rosin — recommended on ea wood and plywood decks, required on
wood plank decks. Not required where PERMAPLY No 28 or PERMAPLY
No. 8013 used as base ply.
NOTE: Recessing Is required as normal maintenance by owner.

Holing
Ply felts must be back nailed on inclines exceeding 2' per foot.
On slopes between 2' and 3' per foot, back nailing shall not exceed
8 foot on center. On slopes greater than 3' per foot, back nailing
shall not exceed 48' on center. Felts are to run parallel to the incline
and must be secured 12" in from the back edge of the felt. Each
nail must be covered by succeeding plies. High temperature areas
may require nailing on lower slopes. '
