I have been a resident of Miami for nine years and have always admired the community of Miami Shores. I
am please to say that I have finally found a house at 301 NE 96th Street that has all the things that I have
been looking for. It is spacious, it is in a wonderful location that is conveniently located to everything and
has a large in- ground pool deep enough to have an existing diving board. However, the pool is above grade
and privacy is an issue. Although there is an existing concrete wall that is located against the service road, it
is only three feet tall on the pool side. This does not allow for much privacy for both myself and my
neighbors. Due to the concrete construction of the pool area and the close proximity of the wall to the service
road, it does not seem that planting trees or hedges is a viable option.
I would like to request raising the height of the wall in order to add additional privacy for my neighbors and
myself. I have talked to adjacent neighbors who agree that an addition to the all would not only be more
private for me but for them as well. As it currently exists the pool level of my new home will allow me to see
directly into the neighbors living room across the service road. I have met my new neighbors to be and have
discussed the privacy concern, a concern that they too share. They have indicated that they would, if
necessary and requested, write a letter supporting this request.
I would appreciate you assisting with my request for the additional height. Would you please let me know
what process that I need to do to formally request this change and welcome you to send someone to review
the site. I will make myself available, along with my real estate agent, to have any necessary walk throughs
needed for you to review this request. I am sure that once you see the situation that you would understand
my concern. I am prepared to provide you with architectural drawings that will show how the wall would be
constructed. The wall would be raised using the same materials with an addition of a top layer of tile that
would be similar to that on the roof of the house and the wall would be painted the same color as the house.
The addition to the wall would not only help solve the privacy issue but would be pleasing to the eye as
well. I am also open to suggestions that you have in helping to solve this problem.
I will be closing on the house on November 21, 1997 and would like to start on this project soon. I would
appreciate your assistance in granting this request.
