Hawkins initiated the legislation which created the municipality of Miami Shores in 1932. The contractor, M.R. Harrison, was a member of the first Village Council. Robert Law Weed, the architect,, was one of the architects who helped shape the character of Miami Shores with his Mediterranean Revival homes of the 1920s and early 1930s. Noteworthy features include a turreted entrance on the NW. It is in character with other homes on NE 96th Street which was planned as a street of large, impressive homes from N.
