DESCRIPTION 1.1 APPROVED NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: SPECIFIC CONDITIONS This approves an aluminum accordion type shutter designed to comply with the South Florida Building Code "Impact Test" requirement and ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures ", for the following locations: 1.1.1 Non - coastal building zone. 1.1.2 Coastal building zone. 2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Main blade (Part J) is 5.375" x .062" thick, constructed as indicated on approved drawing No. 94 -91 Sheet 1 of 6, using extruded aluminum alloy 6063 -T6, which is also used for the auxiliary slats and rest of the components, which shall be constructed as indicated on the same drawing. 2.2 Blade pins shall be #14 x 3" Grade 410 -HT, Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Screws with Xylan 5000 series fluoropolymer coating. 2.3 Tested specimen: 2.3.1 Dimensions: 48" wide x 108" long overall. Blades were 105" long. 2.3.2 Dimensions: 50" wide x 192" long overall. 3. LIMITATIONS 3.1 Maximum blade height or span: See Design Pressure Rating and Maximum Span Schedule on Drawing No. 94 -91, Sheet 5 of 6. 3.2 Minimum separation between glass to be protected and shutter: See Table 1 _ on Drawing No. 94 -91, Sheet 5 of 6. 3.3 Special requirement: 3.3.1 A maximum of .250" clearance is allowed between bottom of blade and top of sill and top blade and bottom of header. 3.3.2 Locking rod angles and lock shall remain attached to shutters at all time, secure tightly with thumb screws and activate lock during hurricane warning. 4. INSTALLATION 4.1 The panels shall be installed in the following conditions: 4.1.1 Wall Mount Every fourth blade hangs from a set of double rollers mounted in a roller housing that glides on the track of the (Header Part A), every blade has a pin at the top and the bottom consisting of a stainless steel screw and a nylon bushing that slide on either side of the header (Header - Part A) and the sill section (Sill - Part D), which are each anchored directly to the wall, as shown in Section A "Wall Mounting Installation" on Dwg. No. 94 -91 Sheet 2 of 6. 4.1.3 Built -Out Condition In this mounting arrangement, the (Header - Part B) is fastened, using 1/4" - 20 SS bolts with wing nuts and washers spaced at 6" o.c., to the long leg of a 2" x 5" x 1/8" aluminum angle that is anchored to the wall and provides the build out; at the bottom, the sill assembly, (Sill - Part C) and (Sill Adaptor - Part E), is also fastened, using 1/4" - 20 SS bolts with wing nuts and washers spaced at 6" o.c., to the long leg of a 2" x 5" x 1/8" aluminum angle that is also anchored to the wall, as shown in Section A "Wall Mounting Installation (Offset)" on Dwg. No. 94 -91 Sheet 2 of 6. 4.1.4 Any combination of the above. 4.2 Anchorage of the shutters shall be to concrete, masonry and/or wood framing and shall consist of only the anchors specified on drawing No. 94 -91, Sheets 1 thru 6 of 6. Substitution of anchor type or indicated embedment is unacceptable and are to be engineered separately. Fasteners must have their own Notice of Acceptance and must be made of stainless steel or have adequate protection against corrosion, per DIN 50018. Aluminum contacting metals not considered compatible shall be properly protected. 4.3 Permanent set fastener components, embedded anchor bolts, threaded cones or metal shields, not in use, must be protected against corrosion, contamination and damage at all time. 5. IDENTIFICATION 5.1 Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state and following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ". 6.
