The tiles for mud-on shall be installed on a solid nailable deck of 5/8" thick plywood for new construction and on 1/2" thick plywood on re- roofing. The deck shall be covered with a 30 Type II (ASTM D -226) anchor sheet and tin capped 6" o.c. on all laps, 12" o.c. in the field and 4" on drip edge. Over this, a hot - mopped 90 Type II (ASTM D -249) roll roofing cap sheet using hot steep asphah Type N conforming to ASTM D- 312 -89. The tile shall be applied to the .roof with mortar consisting of one bag of Florida Roof Tile Cement by La Farge Corporation for Type M mortar and 14 shovels of sand conforming to ASTM C -144 for a 2:1 mix, then adding approximately 4.5 to 5 gallons of water and mix for 5 minutes. Due to Hurricane Andrew, this of has been inundated with requests for both new products and renewals of those to expire which has caused a large back log in responding with an official Notice of Acceptance. This approves two types of clay roof tiles: a) Altusa "S" for mud -on and nail -on system b) Altusa Barrel for mud -on system only 2. All tiles shall be applied only to solid sheathed wood or other nailable decks with an underlayment of anchor sheet as set forth in 3403.4 (b) and a cap sheet of granular surfaced organic roll roofing applied as set forth in 3403.4 (m) (2) of the South Florida Building Code. Standard 2" x 2" - 26 gage galvanized steel drip flashing shall be installed over the felt at the deck perimeter. The felt shall be turned down and nailed to the vertical portion of the deck below the vertical leg of the flashing. The horizontal leg of the flashing shall be continuously sealed to the felt with roofing mastic. The valley flashing shall be formed 26 gage galvanized steel and shall be 16" wide with a single standing fold at the center of the flashing width. The flashing shall be attached to the deck with roofing nails spaced 12" o.c. Each tile shall be attached to the deck with two 8d corrosion resistant nails, long enough to penetrate sheathing by 3/4 "1 Each nail shall incorporate a waterproof washer or be waterproofed with sealant. The rake tile shall be bonded to the typical tile and the typical shall be bonded to the valley flashing with Type Mortar. Altusa's "S" tile shall be installed with a minimum exposure of 16" for mud -on system and a minimum exposure of 15" for nail -on system. 3. Tile shall conform to the following shapes. QuIllity Cnnt Q • The manufacturer shall retain the services of an independent testing laboratory to maintain quality control. Test shall be performed on a minimum of five tiles from each shipment for foreign tile and periodically during production of domestic tile for strength according to Section 3404 of the South Florida Building Code and for moisture absorption according to ASTM C -4. Test samples shall be selected by a laboratory according to ASTM D- 3665 -82. Results shall be sent to Dade County Product Control Section. Teat reports shall bear a description of the tile by material and color, i.e. clay, red. 5 . 11arkinas e All tiles shall bear the imprint of the manufacturer's name and /or its trade name, Altusa "S" or Altusa Barrel to permit identification in the field. 6. This product cannot be used within the Coastal Construction Zone in accordance with Chapter 23, Sub - section 2309.2 (b) of the South Florida Building Code. 7.
