STEP 1:
Dig a hole 2 FT. in diameter and 2 FT. deep so that the center of the hole is 18 IN. from the playing
surface as shown in FIGURE D below. If the playing surface is 2 IN. or less ABOVE the top of the hole
refer to FIGURE A. If it is 2 IN. to 6 IN. above you must build up the ground around the pole to be
level with the Playing Surface. For distances beyond 6 IN., to attain the desired regulation 10 FT. height
of rim from the playing surface, you will either add an extension to the pole system or build up the ground
level where you are installing the pole. Call Customer Support for information on where to obtain a pole
extension. If you have "HOLE DEPTH" questions about ABNORMAL soil conditions, frost line, etc..., your
LOCAL Building Inspector or Contractor will be able provide you with helpful information.

BEFORE SING, determine and mark the top and bottom of each pole by testing the fit
See FIGURE C. Mark one of the pole sections 15" from the bottom.
Mix approximately 820 LB.(Dry Weight) concrete following the manufacturer's directions. Concrete
is a mixture of cement, sand, and gravel. Using this mix, fill the hole completely to the top. Tamp
down (pat, or press and release with quick short hits using a flat tool such as a trowel) to release
air pockets. Remaining mixed concrete will be used in the next step.
Insert the marked bottom of the pole section into the wet concrete so that the mark is slightly
above the top of the hole. Fill the pole with remaining concrete approximately half way. Tamp it
if necessary. Build a slight concrete birm at the base of the pole as shown in FIGURE D below.
The birm will channel water away from the pole and prevent corrosion. Wipe away any concrete
spillage on the taper of the pole; if left to dry, you will hove problems fitting the next pole section.
Use a carpenters level to level the pole in all directions.
