1. DESCRIPTION
1.1
This approves an aluminum storm panel designed to comply with the South Florida Building
Code, 1994 Edition for Dade County, for the locations where the pressure requirements as
determined by ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures ", do not
exceed the Design Pressure Rating values in Section 7 and within the limitations contained in
Section 3.
2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1. The storm panels shall be constructed as indicated on Approved Drawing No. 96 -67, Sheets 1
through 7 of 7, using 0.063" thick aluminum, 5052 -H32 alloy.
2.2 Panels are rolled formed, have a nominal width of 12.00" and a total width of 15.50 ", forming 2"
deep ribs.
2.3 Aluminum components shall be alloys 6063 -T6 except "h" header, "u" header, 2" x 2" x 1/8"
studded angles are aluminum alloy 6063 -T5.
2.4 Tested specimen:
Dimensions: 40" wide x 70" long overall
38 1/2" wide x 99" long overall
39" wide x 99" long overall

aluminum Base Angle at the sill, using 1/4 "0 -20 machine bolt, wing nut and washer at 12" o.c.,
which is anchored to a concrete slab or bulkhead as shown on Section 4, "Ceiling & Floor
Mount" Sheet 2 of 7, of Drawing. No. 96 -67, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval
stamp.
4.1.3 Buildout Mount
The panels are secured to a "U" header at the head, which is anchored using 1/4 "0 -20 x 1/2"
machine bolt & nut @ 6" o.c. to the long leg of a 2" x 3 ", 4" or 5" x 1/8" aluminum angle used to
provide the buildout, which is anchored to the wall; and at the sill to a 2" x 2" x 1/8" alum. studded
angle, using 1/4 "0 -20 x 3/4" studs w /wing nut and washer spaced at 12" o.c., which is also
anchored using 1/4 "0 -20 x 1/2" machine bolt & nut @ 6" o.c. to the long leg of a 2" x 3 ", 4" or 5"
x 1/8" aluminum angle. The build -out angles are anchored to the wall as shown on Section 5,
Sheet 3 of 7, of Drawing. No. 96 -67, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp.
