1.00 This approves smooth surfaced and granule'surfaced, torch applied
APP and mop -- applied SBS "Ruberoid MB" single ply roofing
membranes which are polymer modified and reinforced with non-
woven polyester mat. Ruberoid membranes may be used in new
roofing as well as re- roofing of existing roofs. All roofs shall
have adequate slope and interior drains where required to prevent
ponding. For fire -rated roofs, roof slopes shall comply with
latest UL Building Systems Cards and shall be as restricted by
UL-790/ASTM E -1013 fire tests. Minimunt and maximum slopes shall
also comply with GAF's published reconunendations.

All installations must comply with the recommendations of
the manufacturer as described in their published literaturi
and referenced test reports. .
-- 3 11 '. This installation is approved without any height
restriction for non - coastal buildings. 'The concrete deck
is primed with asphalt primer applied at,a rate of 1 to 2
gallons per square. APP membranes are than directly torch
applied to primed deck. In case of SBS membranes, Gafglas
base sheet is solidly hot mopped to primed deck with 2"
side and 6" end laps. SBS membrane is then mop- applied al
the rate of 25 lbs. per square to the base sheet with 4"
side and 6" end laps.
For coastal areas, the height restriction shall be 60 feet
for Class 1, 550 feet for Class 2 and 350 Class .3
buildings.

diameter coined hexagonal galvanized steel washers.
Gafglas stratavent perforated. base sheet is laid ove
insulation with 2" side and 6" end laps. Ruberoid
membrane is then hot mopped at the rate of Ruberoid

2.04 Over Wood Decks:
The anchor sheet is fastened to the deck with 12 gage,
annular ring - shank steel roofing nails with heads at leas
•3/8" in diameter. Nails must protrude 3/16" min. from
the underside of the deck and be spaced as set forth in
Table 34 -D of the South Florida Building Code.
The nails shall be applied through tin -caps as required
by Sections 3403.4 (c) of the South Florida Building Code.

Insulation, base sheet and Ruberoid membranes shall then
be installed as described in Section 2.03. This
installation is limited to 60 feet above grade for non -
coastal and ,Class 1 coastal buildings and further limited
by type of construction as defined in the South Florida
Building Code
2.05 For fire rated roofs, the Ruberoid membranes shall be
surfaced with 400 lbs. square of gravel embedded in flood
coat of hot roofing asphalt or coated with Karnak No. 97
fibrated aluminum asphalt roof coating or Grundy
Industries 20F emulsion coating applied at a rate
specified in U.L. fire tests. This applies to both smoot
and gravel surfaced APP and SBS membranes.
2.06 For non -fire rated roofs, smooth surfaced Ruberoid
membranes may be coated with GAF's fibered aluminum or
Weather - Coat emulsion roof coating applied at a rate of J
to 1 1/2 gallons per square. Granule surfaced membrane
deed not be coated.

3.00 Work shall be performed only by a. licensed roofing contractor,
acceptable to G.A.F.,
4.00' Ruberoid membranes can also be used on existing built -up roofs,
provided all loose gravel is removed and all blistered,
deteriorated areas are repaired using this membrane and then the
entire roof covered with this membrane as described above. The
use of this membrane over other roofs shall be subject to
approval by the Product Control Section and in accordance with
Section 3401.9 South Florida Building Code.
5.00 Applictions for roofing permit must be accompanied by two
duplicate sets of shop drawing, approved by the architect or
project engineer, along with the manufacturer's specifications
and standard details. This requirement is waived for re- roofin
up to 5,000 sq. ft. and single family residentials jobs up to
5,000 sq. ft. in area.

application has been filed and the supporting data, test reports
no older than ten (10) years, have been re- evaluated.
All reports of re- testing shall bear the seal, signature and
date of an engineer registered in the State of Florida.
2. Any revision or change in the materials, use, ox manufacture of
the product or process shall automatically be cause for
termination, unless prior approval is granted for revisions or
change.
3. Any unsatisfactory performance of this product' or process or a
change in Code provisions shall be grounds for
re- evaluation.
4. This :acceptance shall not be used as an endorsement of any
product for sales or advertising purposes.
5. The Notice of Acceptance number preceded by the words Dade
County, Florida, and followed by the expiration date may be
displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the
Notice of Acceptance is displayed, then it shall be done in its
entirety.
6. Product approval drawings, where required for permit
applications,, shall be provided to the applicant by the
manufacturer or his distributors; unless otherwise noted in the
Notice of Acceptance. The prints need not be re- sealed by an
engineer.
7. Failure to comply with Standard Conditions shall be cause for
termination of Approval.
