All tile is manufactured from extruded concrete consisting of Portland Cement, plasticizer, iron and metallic oxides, and blended aggregates. Pioneer tile is fabricated with a wide ridged and grooved sidelap providing a water channel at vertical joints. The ridged sidelaps provide a self - aligning function, creating a uniform appearance. The roof was placed with approximately 39 squares of roof tile. Tile Description The tiles were a Polyfoam adhesive set, concrete, Hacienda, roof tile manufactured by Pioneer Concrete Tile, product control approval # 95- 0228.02. Test Procedure The roof was first examined for loose tile by hand lifting one hundred sixteen (116) of the field tiles and one hundred fifty eight (158) of the corner and perimeter tiles. Forty seven (47) single tiles, were randomly selected and tested. Twenty five (25) tests were conducted in the field area, twelve (12) in the perimeter area, and ten (10) in the corner areas. The single tiles were subjected to a concentrated uplift force measured with a manually operated, Chatillon mechanical dial push /pull guage, series DPPH. The gauge was connected to a steel "L" shaped angle that was inserted under the nose of the tile and gradually pulled upward until reaching the required test pressure of 35 lbs. +/- 5 lbs. As the load was applied, observations for failure of the component and the attachment, if any, were recorded. Tests were performed in respective order as illustrated on the attached sketch.
