Monier sells tile systems through local distribution and directly to consumers, All profiles have
matching trim pieces used for rake hip, ridge hip, and valley terminations. Tile system accessories such
as underinyment, ventilation systems and flashing systems are also available. These accessories are
manufactured for all profiles and form a part of this Product Control Approval.
Monier's "Bermuda flat" roof tile has been tested in compliance with the South Florida Building
Code requirements for concrete, mortar or adhesive set tile applications. The minimum roof slope for
Ivtonier's "Bermuda flat" mortar or adhesive set tiles shall be 2 " :12 ". See the "Profile Drawing" section
in this approval for the "Bermuda Flat" profile drawing. Tho Monier "Bermuda Flat" tile profile has
been tested for both wind characteristics and static uplift performnnce, therefore, any consideration for
installation shall be clone as n 'Moment Based System'. Data for attachment calculations is noted in
Tables 1 through 3 of this approval.

The standard minimum roo for Monier "130inuda (slat" mortar sct or adhesive set tilt
applications is 2" rise in 12" run(2 " :12 "), The maximum roof pitch for mortar act or adhesive set
tile applications is 7" rise in 12" 41p`(7 ":12 ").
2. Monicr's "Bermuda Flat" tile profile lias not been tested for nail -on applications, therefore,
System A (Counter-Batten Nail -On Application), System B (Direct Deck Nail -On Application) and
System C (Horizontal Batten Nail -On Application) do not form part of this approval.
3. System installation shall bc in compliance with the system specifications outlined in this Product
Control Approval. Moiler set or adhesive set tilt shall bc attached using an approved mortar or
tile adhesive noted in this approval, the dais of which is noted in Table 3 of this Approval. The
method of attachment utilized shall provide sufficient attachment resistance expressed as a moment
to meet or exceed the required moment of resistance determined in compliance with Dade County
Protocol PA 115 or PA 127.
4. for mortar set applications, the first three courses of tile shall bc nailed with not less than one nail
per tile. As an alternate, the first three courses of tilt shall bc applied in mortar or adhesive over a
single layer of minimum 12 ga. wire mesh with square openings of not less than 'I," wI►ich is
mechanically attached to the deck with not less than one roofing nail every 1 ft', For roof pitches
from 6 ":12" to 7 " :12 ", every third tile of every fifth course, beginning at the eighth course, shall bc
nailed with not less than one nail per tile.
5. For mortar set or achesive set tilt applications, a field static uplift test by a Undo County
accredited testing agency, in compliance with Dade County Protocol I'A 106, shall be required not
less than 30 days after application to confirm the adhesion. The results of this testing shall be
reported to the Building Official and the installer staling that the application has passed or failed PA
106 testing. If the application fails PA 106 testing, the report shall state tvhich portion of the test
was bailed; Category I (examination for loose tile) or Category 2 (uplift testing of tile). Subsequent
to testing, the installer may repair not more than 5% of field area tiles and 10% of perimeter arca
(i.e. ridge/rake) tilt with approved tile adhesive. The installer shall place an identifiable inarkiiig on
each repaired tile for future reference. Any l'A 106 re -test shall not include any marked tile,

System Limitations: 1. A red rosin sheet shall be installed on all wood plank decks to eliminate
asphalt seepage and bonding of base sheet to plank and deck. Red rosin sheet
may also be installed on plywood decks as an option.
2. A slip sheet is required with PLY 4® and PLY 6® when used as a
mechanically fastened base or anchor sheet.
3. Pre - assembled cap nails may only be used for termination of fully bonded
surfaces such as mechanical termination at wood blocking, head and side laps,
and base flashing terminations. Cap nails shall not be used for the mechanical
attachment of a base sheet. Tin caps are required by the South Florida
Building Code. Pre- assembled 'Cap Nail' shall not be used for base sheet

Dear SIR,
Pursuant to your request, INDEPENDENT ROOF TESTING of South Florida (IRT),
performed uplift tests on the tile roofing at the above address.
The cement Flat White tile is manufactured by MONIER (P. C. # 940323.20). The roof is
approximately 4000 square feet in area and was tested at ( 73 ), locations. The tiles had been
installed using the "mortar set" method.
The uplift tests consisted of placing a load test device manufactured by CHATILLON (Model
DFIS), over the tile with an adjustable connector placed under the front lip of the tile, and
gradually increasing the pressure. The gauge readings are indicated in pounds. Pressure was
exerted on tie tile until a reading of thirty five (35) pounds was obtained. Visible separation was
noted at ' (5) test locations at this reading.
IRT's responsibility in this project was specifically uplift testing to a specific point. No other
conclusions or observations are expressed or implied.
The tests were conducted, and the results have been reported in accordance with Dade County
Protocol, PA- 106 -95.
