NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: SPECIFIC CONYITIONS
This approves an aluminum storm panel designed to comply with. the South Florida Building
Code, 1994 Edition for Dade County, for the locations where the pressure requirements as
determined by ASCE 7 -88 "Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures ", do not
exceed the Design Pressure Rating values in Section 7 and within the limitations contained in
Section 3.
2. MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
2.1. The storm panels shall be constructed as indicated on approved drawing No. 95 -18 Sheet 1 of 5,
using .060" thick aluminum alloy 5052 -H32.
2.2 Panels are rolled formed, nominal width of 12.00 ", total width of 14 3/8 ", forming 2" deep ribs.
2.3 Components shall be aluminum alloys 6063 -T5, "h" header, "u" header, 2" x 2" x .125" angle, 2"
x 4" x .125" angle, and 2" x 4" x .125" aluminum channel.
2.4 Tested specimen:
Dimensions: 39" x 99 -1/2 ", 39" x 97 -1/2 ", 39" x 96- 3/4 ",50" x 50" and 39" x 101"
3. LIMITATIONS
3.1 The design will be dependent on the maximum panel height of 97 -1/2" for wall mounts, 99 -1/2"
for inside mounts, and 96 -3/4" for direct mounts and to be installed only as outlined on drawing
No. 95 -18, Sheets 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of 5.
3.2 Minimum separation to existing glass to proc shall be :
3.2.1 For spans up to 50" = 2 ".
3.2.2 For spans up to 96 3/4" = 2 3/4 ".
3.2.3 For spans up •to 99 1/2" = 2 7/8 ".
3.3 Maximum clearance between top of panel and inside of header shall he 1/4".
The panels shall be installed only in the following condition:
4.1.1 Wall Mount
The panels are secured to an "h" Wall Mount Header at the head and a Base Angle at the silo,
both of which are anchored to the wall, using the tension anchors as shown on Section A -A,
Drawing No. 95 -18, Sheet 2 of 5, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp.
4.1.2 Direct Mount
Similar to wall mount, but using the 2" x 2" x .125" Base Angles at both header and sill using the
tension anchors as shown on Section C -C, Drawing No. 95 -18, Sheet 2 of 5, bearing the Dade
County Product Control approval stamp.
4.1.3. Ceiling/Inside Mount
The panels are secured inside a Ceiling Mount "U" Header a7 the head, which is anchored to the
inside of the opening, and fastened to the 2" x 2" x .125" continuous studded aluminum Base

Angle at the sill, using 1/4 " -20 x 3/4" studs and washered wingnut spaced at 12" o.c. as shown on
Section B -B, Drawing No. 95 -18, Sheet 2 of 5, bearing the Dade County Product Control
approval stamp.
4.1.4 Any combination of the above.
4.1.5 Skylight Cover Application
Continuous extruded aluminum channels 2" x 4" x 2" x 1/8 ", used as header and sill, run along
the sides of the skylight frame channels and are supported by 4" wide brackets spaced not more
than 20" apart. Brackets consist of a 2" x 4" 1/8" x 4" wide aluminum angle located along the
side of the skylight frame and are anchored to the roof rafter using four (4) #10 x 1 1/2" SMS per
bracket, these brackets must be properly flashed in compliance with Chapter 34 of the SFBC. A
2" x 2" x 1/8" x 4" wide aluminum studded angle, with two (2) 1/4 " -20 x 3/4" studs w /wing nut,
is attached to the long leg of each bracket using three (3) #10 x 1 1/4" SMS penetrating into the
skylight frame. This angle must be completely covered by the skylight flashing. The storm
panels are then fastened at each end to a 2" x 2" x .125" continuous studded aluminum Base
Angle with one leg turned up serving as an end cap coveting the panel ridge openings along the
sides. Angles and panels are secured to the top flange of the channels using l/4 " -20 x 3/4" studs
w /wing.nut and washer spaced at 12" o.c., another 2" x 2" xl /8" is used at top and bottom of
shuttter. to cover the opening under the panels, as shown on Sections A -A and B -B, Drawing No.
95 -18, Sheet 5 of 5, bearing the Dade County Product Control approval stamp.
4.2 Anchorage of the aluminum angles shall be to concrete, masonry and/or wood framing and shall
consist of only the anchors, embedment and spacing specified on Drawing No. 95 -18, Sheet 1
thru 5 of 5. Substitution of anchor type or indicated embedment is unacceptable and requires to
be engineered separately. Fasteners must have their own Notice of Acceptance.
4.3 Permanent set fastener components, embedded anchor boas, threaded cones or metal shields, not
in use must be protected against corrosion, contamination and damage at all time.
5. IDENTIFICATION
5.1 Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state ane.
following statement: "Dade County Product Control Approved ".
6. USE
6.1 Application for building permit shall be accompanied by two copies of the following:
6.1.1 This Notice of Acceptance.
6.1.2 Completely dimensioned drawing size and location, including height above
grade, of openings to receive shutters; mean roof height, length and width of building.
6.1.3 Duplicate prints of approved drawings No. 95 -18, Sheet 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bearing the
approval stamp, Notice of Acceptance number and date by Dade County Product Control
Section, clearly marked to shcw the components selected for the proposed installation.
