I have attempted to abide by the Village code in every way for some remodeling that must be completed before the tile can be put in place on the roof. Our permit, number 27495 gives us permission to reconstruct the front entrance and to attach an unenclosed porch with a gable end. I emphasize the word unenclosed. For the porch I have completed construction of: 1. foundation and floor 2. tie -beam as to the specified code and architectural requirements 3. prefrabicated trusses 4. sheeting and roofing except for placement of tile 5. outlookers, facia and soffit as required 6. the end truss in the gable is reinforced and attached to a second truss constructed of 2" by 6" with 2" by 6" risers from the tie -beam and attached to the outlookers with hurricane clips. Exterior grade plywood covers the gable and is attached to these trusses. (5ee enclosed P c, -4ure ) As specified in the South Florida Building Code and in the Miami Shores Village Code Book, page 1569 -1570, section 225, re: Masonry Construction exceptions (copy enclosed) (b) Any porch, so long as it remains unenclosed, may be framed in wood construction of a structural strength not less than that required for comparable parts of the remainder of the building. - - -if the gable end has a maximum rise of not more than three feet, the coping can be of wood construction of structural strength - -- Again, I have attempted to conform to the Village code and I am asking your permission to coverthis gable end, item 6 above, with paper backed galvanized lath to be covered with no less than three - fourths inch mortar scratch coat, finish coat amd paint to conform to the rest of the house. The porch is unenclosed and we intend for it to stay unenclosed as long as we own the property. Therefore, we feel that you will grant us permission to finish the gable so -that we can place the tile. Thank you.
