1. Article #31 7, First sentence of the third paragraph, change the word
"executed" to "connected ". Sentence shal 1 read, "After lighting f ixtures

The electrical contractor shall furnish and install 1- 500KVA 3 phase
Askarel Immersed self cool transformer 4160 Delta high voltage 2087/120
low voltage transformer in lieu of 3 single phase transformers indicated
on pole adjacent to the northesat corner of the "New Dormitory Bldg. "
This unit to be mounted on a 4" reinforced concrete slab ..egegriele of 1000 lb.
per square foot loading. Transformer is to have standard tops and accessories
and is to be a: . a.nufaetured by Precision Transformer C • rpo, Sorgel
Electric Company or Maloney Transformer Corp.

This unit is to be provided with a low volt age air filled conduct entrance
chamber and is to have high voltage cover mounted 5KV bushings.
Contractor to provide pad and outdoor voult of approximately 10 ft. X 15 Ft.
with the 15 feet running pee ne ' to the North wall of New Dormitory Bldg.
The outdoor voult is to be constructed in accordance with Florida Power
and Light Company specifications and similar to their drawing no SDA826.
This voult is to be constructed in a manner Such t:nat it will comply with the
1959 National Electric ode Article 450 and with the Local Municipal and
power Co's requirements.
The transformer is to be protected by 200 .AMP fusible hook stick operated
L V. disconnects as manufactured by S C Corp, Kearney- Hubbard Corp
and are to be crossarm mounted on adjacent pole as shown on sheet E -1a
Contractor is to also provide 5I01* Line type valve type arrestors as menu=
lectured by G. Ea and Westinghouse on this same pole.
The above specifications are also to apply to a 750 It:VA transformer to be
fiarnntshed and set on a pad 12 X 15 feet on the south side of the center wing of
the e.dsting "Dining Iiiafl re Dome Arts" bolding. This unit will require
17400 AMP-5KV disconnects on adjacent indicated pole instead of 200 AMP
switch 9s as indicated above.

the Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc, in every case where such
standard has been established for the particular type of material
in question. All work shall be executed in a workmanlike manner

306. CODES, PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
The installation shall comply with laws ‘pplying to electrical
installation in effect with the regulations f the National Electric
Code where such regulations do not confl'el with the laws in effect.
This contractor shall secure and pay for a.A necessary permits and
certificates of inspection .tor all equipment *lecluded in this specifi-
cation required by the various departments lf the tatt of Florida
and the county and city having lawful jurisdicfon irrespective of

307, TEMPORARY LIGHT, POWER AND SCAFI'OLDING
Temporary light and power will be provided by th General Contractor,
However, this contractor is to provide an addition necessary wiring
as may be required in the General Conditions or for 1: a own work.
This contractor shall furnish and erect all scaffolding required to
install the work required in this specification. All sett'iolding shall
be removed upon completion of the contract.
All wiring shall be concealed in conduit and all conduit shail be
concealed unless otherwise indicated on the_plans.

308. CONDUIT SYSTEMS (Con't.)
Couplings, connectors and fittings shall be approved types
specifically designed and manufactured for the purpose. They
shall be installed expertly to provide a firm mechanical assembly
and electrical conductivity.
The conduit runs shall be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner
and they shall be as nearly straight as practicable.
Exposed conduits shall run parallel or at right angles to walls, beams,
and floor unless shown otherwise on the drawings They shall be
supported by clamps with clamp backs fastened to the wall, bearns
or ceiling to provide a clearance of not less than 1/2 inch between the
conduit and the wall.
Each conduit bend shall have as long a radius as possible, and the
radius shall not be less than that of he standard long - radius bend
for that size of conduit No standard short- radius bends shall be
used except as shown on the drawings
The junction of conduit with any outlet box, panelboard box, or other
receptacle provided with knock -outs, shall be made with a bushing
inside and a lock nut outside of the box tightened to fasten the conduit
rigidly to the box.
The fittings for flexible conduit shall have a threaded portion for
fastening the fittings to the box with a lock nut on the inside of the box.
309. OUTLET BOXES
AU wall and ceiling outlets, junction and pull. box .s to be provided
with galvanized steel knockout boxes suitable in design to the space
which they occupy, and the purpose which they serve.
Boxes to be of substantial construction, and entirely right and of
make approved by the Engineer, In general, all outlet boxes to
have threaded ears or lugs and open covers or bonnets for plaster
grounds.
Ali outlet boxes are to be set in walls, partitions or columns so as to
be flush with the finished surface. Where they occur in plastered
surfaces, both ceiling and rrais, boxes are to be accurately set and
rigidly secured in position, the projecting edge being lined up with
the grounds to which the plasterer will work, or the acoustic tile
on ceilfikgse Plates or covers required for boxes in unplastered
brick walls, or wall having special finish, to be made of brick or

3090 OUTLET BOXES t
Ceiling outlet boxes in solid concrete slabs to be of the two -piece
removable back type. Boxes in concrete joints to be of the size and
placed as directed. Boxes to be set on and fastened to forms so that
when the forms are removed, no part of the holding nails will be
left in the boxes.
Provide boxes for fixture outlets with fixture supports of suitable
design to carry weight of fixtures.

310. WIRE AND CABLE
Furnish and install all wires and cables to serve all outlets as shown
on the drawings or specified herein,
Wire and cable shall comply to National Board of Fire Underwriters'
type RHW and TW,
The size and number of wires and cables are shown directly or
typically on the drawings and refer to cross sectional area in
circular mils of American Wire Gage (AWG).
The minimum wire size shall be #12 AWG. The size of wires and
cables for motor branch circuits shall conform with the requirements
of the local inspection department but must not be smaller than the
size indicated on the drawings.
Conductors shall be soft drawn in accordance with the ASTM specifi-
cation on B33.. Conductors Larger than #3 s AWG, shall be stranded,

311. SPLICES AND CONNECTIONS
Connections andsplicee shall be made in terminal and junction boxes
only. Connections and splices for wires No, 6 AWG and smaller
shall be made with Minnesota Mining and Meinnfacturing Company's
pre- - insulated Scotchiok spring type connector, Use of these
connectors shall be limited to the manufacturer's published wire size
combinations; in general, Type Y (Yellow Jacket) for fixture
connections; Type R Red Jacket) for 3 No, 12 and less, and Type B
(Blue Jacket) for larger connections, up to 2 No. 6 stranded.
Connections of larger wires or combinations shall be made with
Burndy Servit Type KS, split bolt connector, for wires up to and
including No. 1/0 AWAY and Bur. r+dy Oklip, Type KVS, for No, 2/0
AWG and larger,
Connections and splices of wires made with 3M, pre - insulated
S otchlok connecters do not require any taping or further insulating,
Connection made with Burndy connectors shall be taped with 3M
Scotch Fit and moulded into a smooth ball with all spaces filled.
Over this surface apply three layers of half lapped Scotch No. 33 tape.
Splices exposed to weather, bus connections to transformers, shall
be made as above and then coated with Scotchkote electrical coating;
apply two layers of half lapped friction tape over the entire splice
extending approximately one inch beyond the No., 33 tape, then paint
the entire splice with Scotchk.ote.

312. FUSES
Fuses 0 -30 Amperes 125 V

Fuses O -600 Amperes
Fuses shall be Fusetron dual - element fuses as manufactured by the
Bussmann Manufacturing Company, or approved equal. Fuses shall
have a minimum interrupting capacity of 100, 000 RMS amperes and
carry 500% of rating for a minimum of ten seconds. Fuses of 600
amperes, 600 volts or less, shall be N. E. Ca dimensions.
Fuses 650 Amperes and Above
Fuses 650 amperes and above shall be BUSS Hi -Cap fuses having
current characteristics to coordinate with Fusetron fuses. Fuses
shall have a :minimum 100,. 000 RMS ampere short circuit capacity
1nterruptting capacity.
Cendractor shall °supply to Owner spare fuses equal to one set for
each i -e installed and a minaizrann of 10% of each size installed.
313. SWITCHES AND RECEPTACLES
This contractor shall fucni.sh and instal lighting switches where
shown on the drawings. All single pole switches shall be Hubbell
Cat.; #1221 and #1223 or approved equal, All plates shall be
chromium plated, except in the Equipmeoat or Boiler Room which
will be brass., Duplex convenience receptacles shall be Hubbell
Cat, #5252 or approved equal. All convenience outlets shall be
mounted 1' -6" abaare floor unless otherwise noted on plan. All
switches shall be !mounted I' -6' above floor unless otherwise noted
on plan, .
3140 PANELBOARDS AND CABINETS
This contractor shall furnish and install all panelboards as specified
a the drawings. Branch circuit panelboards shall be the dead front
»' cty type equipped with circuit breakers. Busbars &alll have lug
connections for attaching feeders. and arranged for wire grains and

side of each branch circuit shall be fed direct from the neutral busbar
located at imp of panel: The circuit breaker shall control the ungrounded

shall have taverse tiyne limit characteristics to prevent tripping on

The electrical contractor shall furnish and install a complete
emergency exit lighting system in each building as shown on plan
and as herein specified, and shall conform to the National Electrical
Code, 195 9 Edition, and all local codes governing and any subsequent
revision thereafter.
Emergency and exit lights are to be on separate circuits from the
general lighting circuits and these circuits are to be in a separate
conduit systesan. The emergency lighting panel shall be of plug
Fuse type 8-20 ampere circuits. cuits, The conduit system for emergency
and exit lights shall be entirely independent of all other conduit systems.
316. FIXTURE SCHEDIII.,T
Fixtures shall be furnished and installed in accordance with the
schedule shown on the drawings.
31 1. LIGHTING FIXTURES
All lighting fixtures shown on the drawings are to be installed and
furnished by this contractor complete with lamp. Fluorescent ballast
shall be certified. This contractor shall furnish plaster rings for all
recessed fixtures.
Upon completion of the installation of the lighting fixtures and
lighting equipment, they must be in firs class operating order and
in perfect condition as to finish, etc. At the time of final inspection
all fixtures and equipment must be complete with required glassware
or reflectors which must be clean and free from defects. Any
reflector or glassware broken prior to the time of final inspection
must be replaced,
After lighting lb: Lures and lighting eepipment are executed to the
wiring system of the building, the wiring system and the fixtures
or equipment must be test free from short Jrcuits and grounds
must show an insulation resistance between conductors and between
conductors and grounds based on minimum load not less than the

316. POWER WIRING
This contractor shall furnish and install conduit, wiring and make
all electrical connections, leaving all motor: s in operating condition
including all controls and control wiring, unless otherwise noted.
All disconnect switches shall be furnished and installed by this
contractor. Motor starters shall be furnished by others: Final
connections at starters anti disconnect switches and controls s;aall
be made in conduit. Fin al connections fit motors shall be made with
greenfield flexible conduit and .hinge.
