As a courtesy to your office, we are providing this cover letter to address the
issue of the "Fence Construction ", as well as an overview of the project to date.
This will give you a letter for your files, as well as a basis for a report to the
Planning & Zoning Board. They had been promised the opportunity for review of
certain items prior to construction. Primarily that will be the perimeter
lighting plans, but these drawings are still about one month away from being
complete.
At this time the Site Work Contractor is progressing on the patch and repair
portion of the East 40 Acre Block of the campus. The section along NE 111th
Street, from the gate house entry east to NE 2nd Avenue, is being completed.
Repairs are done, paving is down, with seal coating and striping to follow. The
temporary construction fence will be removed, so as to allow the swale areas
to be graded and cleaned up, after the removal of the Ficus trees.
The plans attached at half scale reduced drawings. The actual scale of the plans
is 1" = 40'. We hope these plans are easily filed in this format. The contractor
appreciates the smaller sets for field work. The drawings are quite simple. We
have only two basic profiles. Detail 'A', calls out for the standard free standing
fence. Detail 'B', calls out for small fence section to be retrofit into the top of
the existing walls.
The plans refer to Phase 1, 2, and 3. Phase 1 commences immediately to include
the area along 111 Street from the gate house east to NE 2nd Avenue. It also
includes the existing frontage along NE 2nd Avenue. Phase 1 ends there, to allow
the irrigation, landscape and sidewalk construction to conclude and clean up
this limited section, before starting Phase 2. It will also allow the Village to
review the construction completed before advancing into the following Phases.
If there are any adjustments, it would be timely to incorporate them into
contracts and drawings for the next Phase.
Fence Drawings address the East 40 Acres only. Phase 2 would include the rest
of 111 Street to Miami Avenue, all of 115 Street and limited sections of the
east side of Miami Avenue. The west side of Miami Avenue and the proposed new
corner markers constructed of masonry walls, columns and railed details are
Phase 3 work, not yet developed. These are awaiting further input and responses
from the County as to the status of the Miami Avenue widening proposal.
