The documentation submitted has been reviewed by Miami -Dade County Product Control Division and accepted by the Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) to be used in Miami Dade County and other areas where allowed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). This NOA shall not be valid after the expiration date stated below. The Miami Dade County Product Control Division (In Miami Dade County) and/or the AHJ (in areas other than Miami Dade County) reserve the right to have this product or material tested for quality assurance purposes. This report is in reference to the existing dormer elimination for the 4/12 sloped tile roof area over the above referenced Dalton - Dunspaugh House located at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. The dormers consist of wood framing attached onto the existing rafters, with a tile facing. The existing supports are configured in a kingpost type truss construction, with no diagonals. This results in basically a series of rafters vertically supported and spaced at 16" on center. The eave height is @ 20 feet and the dormers are situated approximately halfway up the roof slope at 26 feet. Due to continuing leaks, these dormers are to be removed and replaced with 1 "x 8" planked wood decking and subsequently sealed with a #30 felt and a layer of TU Plus self - adhering underlayment. TA* 2324.1 gf.the 200Z3Qcj a Building Code. • • • . • ••• • • •• . : Fram a structural standp'oiilt, based upon our observations, it is our opinion that the existing dormers can be replaced with matching wood plantcleching without any additional stress on the wood framing. The existing dormers currently provide ventilation to the plenum area of the Dalton - Dunspaugh House roofs. Ventilation to these roofs must be maintained to comply with directives set forth by the Florida Building Codes. Therefore, a series of aluminum static roof vents are to be installed on the dormer locations to maintain adequate ventilation. The proposed vents are Aura - (AV - 24) Ventilators, manufactured by "Active Ventilation Products ", located in Newburg, N.Y. These roof vents will be installed as per Miami -Dade N.O.A. #09- 0806.08, and are approved by Miami -Dade County. The Aura -D Vent is also in compliance with Paragraph 1517.6 of the 2007 Florida Building Code. ACRC will continue to provide consulting services upon request.
