WOOD FENCES
2915 Fences
2915.1 Wood fences,. so located on a property
that by zoning regulations they cannot be used
as a wall of a building, shall be constructed to
meet the following minimum specifications.
(a) Fences not exceeding 5 feet in
height shall be constructed to meet
the following minimum
requirements: from nominal 4 inch
by 4 inch by 8 feet -0 inch long

1200 p.s.i. in bending, and shall be

FENCE WALL AND HEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Maximum height of fences walls and hedges, in any required front yard, 3 -1/2 feet except on
Biscayne Boulevard where fences and walls are 5 feet and hedges are 7 feet Maximum height
of hedges in any required side yard rear yard is 7 feet and maximum height of fences or wall
in any required side rear yard is 5 feet.
FRONT YARD FENCES
All walls or fences in any front yard shall be constructed either or ornamental masonry or of
ornamental metal, but not including any wire fence . All front fences must be approved by
Planning and Zoning Board prior to issuance of a permit.
SIDE OR REAR YARD FENCES
Walls or fences in any side or rear yard, shall be constructed of chain Iink, wood, ornamental
iron or aluminum, precast concrete, concrete block stucco, or. ornamental masonry. The use
of all other materials or attachments such as slats, fabric, reed screening, etc., is prohibited.
Any fence, wall or hedge established adjacent to a rear plot line along an alley shall provide
a clear space of at least forty (40) square feet in area long the alley line available for the placing
• of waste materials for removal.
WOOD FENCE
Permit application accompanied by two copies of survey and two copies of drawing indicating
ways to install wooden fence. Location of fence should be highlighted on survey. Owner -
builder permit may be issued.
CHAIN LINK FENCE
Permit application along with two copies of survey indicating location of fence.
Owner - builder permit may be issued.
MASONRY FENCE
Permit application must be accompanied by two copies of drawings signed and sealed by a
registered Engineer.
ORNAMENTAL IRON
Permit application must be accompanied by two sets of drawings depicting style of fence.

will file a complaint with Miami -Dade County Building Code Compliance Office for

obtained by the home owner the requirements of the Unsafe Structure Code of Miami

unsafe and a permit shall be obtained to demolish the structure or bring the building in to
