MEETING MINUTES
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 9:05am by Christine Gay. Present were Michelle Brown,
Library Director, Christine Gay, President, Puja Motiani, Secretary, and Barbara Lawless; Nancy Frehling, Vice
President and Marie Mennes were excused.

PRESENTATIONS: None
GUESTS: None
Approval of minutes: The Board reviewed the minutes from the April 9, 2025 meeting. Puja Motiani moved
for approval of the minutes, Barbara Lawless seconded. Motion carried.
Community Alliance Report: Barbara Lawless presented the report. The Alliance grants will be awarded at
the June 4th meeting; John Bachay will be in attendance to receive the grant on behalf of the library.
Financial Report: Michelle Brown presented the Financial Report for April 2025 (see attached). Christine Gay
moved to approve, Barbara Lawless seconded. Motion carried.
Circulation & Archives Report: Michelle Brown presented the April 2025 Archives Report: John Bachay
continues with the Oral History project. The Marine Stadium presentation was a success and drew media
attention from Channel 10 News. The Grand Concourse Tour was a success in the community. Gerald Moore
gave a $5000.00 donation to the Library Trust. The Circulation report was also presented by Michelle Brown
(see attached).
Operational Updates: Following an incident at the library, the Village has concerns about the library’s hours of
operation and security. They are considering installing cameras around and in the library building. A motion
was proposed to review the Library hours of Operation on Saturdays; Christine Gay moved to approve,
Barbara Lawless seconded. Motion was carried unanimously.
Florida artist on loan proposal: John Camp, a former Library Board Trustee has offered to loan a painting to
the library by a well-known Florida Artist, James Hutchinson. The Board approved this loan proposal.

Next scheduled Board Meeting: June 11, 2025 at 9am
Library Board to present Annual Report to Council June 17th at 6:30pm
Historic Marker Unveiling Wednesday, May 21st at 5:30pm.
Fine Arts Photography Exhibit Thursday, May 22nd at 6pm
Memorial Day Ceremony at Optimist Park Monday, May 26th at 9am

9:57am.
