Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 8:59am by Christine Gay. Present were Michelle Brown, Library Director,
Christine Gay, President, Nancy Frehling, Vice President, Puja Motiani, Secretary, Marie Mennes; Barbara
Lawless was excused.
Public Comment: None
Presentation: None
Approval of Minutes: The Board reviewed the minutes from the February 29, 2025 meeting. Nancy Frehling
moved for approval of the minutes as amended, Marie Mennes seconded. Motion carried.
Community Alliance Report: The report was presented by Michelle Brown on behalf of Barbara Lawless. The
Library board will be hosting the Alliance meeting on April 2nd, 2025.
Financial Report: Michelle Brown presented the Financial report. The library expenses are at 27% and revenue
at 6% to date. Michelle Brown reported that the Board has a trust at TD Bank with an interest rate of 0.13%, and
will obtain more details from the Village Accounting Department. Marie Mennes made a motion to approve the
Financial Report, Puja Motiani seconded. The financial Report was approved.
Circulation Report: Michelle Brown presented the circulation report.
- Archives Report: Michelle Brown presented the report:
John Bachay is finalizing the Oral History Project; the videos are in the final editing stages
and will be digitized.
John Bachay hosted a successful WWII presentation.
Old Business:
- Fine Arts Committee to Open Call for Artists for a May exhibit: They will meet in April to plan the
exhibit in May at the library.
- Update on Fines project: The library staff has cleared more than half the outstanding fines with
about $8,000.00 remaining.
Other Items:
- Library Board to host April Alliance Meeting in April; Board members will provide breakfast.
- Seating for main room – Michelle Brown is looking into adding 2 small tables and reconfiguring the
layout to accommodate more seating for patrons.
- Sound Bath & Meditation Program has been suspended due to lack of participation.

- Library hosts Alliance meeting April 2, 2025 at 8am
- Reducing Stormwater Runoff with Sustainability Committee Monday March 10, 2025 at 6pm
- Citizens’ Academy begins March 10, 2025 at 6pm – Runs Mondays through April 28, 2025
- Health Seminar with Dr. Poovendran March 18, 2025 at 6pm
- History of the Miccosukee Saturday March 22, 2025 at 10:30 am
- OSHER Literary Circles begins Friday, March 28, 2025 at 1:30 pm

Adjournment: Marie Mennes moved to adjourn, Puja Motiani seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 9:44am.
