Discussion turned to the Gallery Exhibition. Ms. Rodriguez noted that there are many issues with the 9900
building in addition to simply painting the walls, including leak repairs and possible mold reparation. Ms.
Strickstein inquired about alternate locations for the exhibition.
Commission members suggested possibly using El Portal or by the Citadel. Ms. Adsit expressed concern
with a location outside Miami Shores; what is the connection to Miami Shores. It was noted that there are
empty storefronts on NE 2nd Avenue that may be available. Ms. Rodriguez suggested that the Commission
members explore opportunities to rent space for a month long pop up show.
A suggestion was made to have a storyteller performance in the fall, at Flight Wine, or another location. Mr.
Bruce said that there are recently vacated storefronts on 98th Street, specifically where Home Store and
Gloss Lab were located. Mr. Hosfeld suggested making the exhibition a one day event.
Mr. Bruce expressed concern how it would look to the Council if the Commission cancels the event. Ms.
Strickstein said the ethically, she does not feel comfortable with the Commission moving forward. Ms.
Rodriguez agrees that the Commission needs to be transparent with the artists about the current condition
of the building.
