Mr. Bruce and unanimously approved.
Ms. Rodriguez noted that the MS Community Alliance awarded a grant of $3700 to the Commission, but
noted the amount is half of the grant awarded for FY2024. Ms. Rodriguez said she would attend both the
upcoming Budget Hearing and the Council meeting on behalf of the Commission.
Ms. Dorney noted that the contract has been signed for the Parks Master Plan. It was noted that there will
be a survey, charrettes, as well as key group meetings for the Parks Master Plan.
It was related that there is permanent Storywalk project at Optimist Park; the Library has scheduled the kick
off date for Storywalk for September 11th. Ms. Dorney said that the Library would like to collaborate with
Fine Arts for the Storywalk grand opening. Ms. Adsit recommended having an area for telling poetry at this
event. Mr. Bruce suggested collaborating instead with Bound By Beauty's Mary Benton for the Library's new
courtyard with an exhibit.
Discussion turned to the September —November Gallery Exhibit at 9900 NE 2nd Avenue. September will
begin with a Gallery Night; the theme selected, as a result of the subcommittee meeting, is "Spirts In The
Natural World". October will be a Storytelling Evening; ideas include ghost stories with a jungle or swamp
theme. Mr. Stock noted that storytelling will take approximately 45 minutes. Uplighting will be needed for
the storyteller. Ideas for November include having a question and answer session with the gallery artists.
The dates selected are as follows: September 13th, October 18th, November 15th
Mr. Hosfeld suggested putting a vinyl on the wall in the alcove for advertising the artists; possibly adding a
sheet with prices for all the artwork that will be displayed. Commission members inquired if there will be a
stipend for the call to artists; it was noted that it will depend on the number of artists selected for the
exhibition. Additional costs for the Commission include painting the interior of the 9900 building and
refreshments. Anticipated costs for the event are as follows: $1000-$1200 Food; $2000 Paint; $300 Vinyl;

Downtown Miami Shores. Ms. Dorney said this project would be a collaboration with the Village's planning
department.
It was suggested that the Commission begin planning for the Spring 2025 concert series in November.
Ms. Dorney noted that Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15-October 15. Village events include Plaza
Night; possible activities include tango and/or flamenco dancing.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
