Approval of the Minutes - April 17th, 2024 HPB-04-17-2024 Minutes.docx Motion to approve minutes by Mr. Saadeh, seconded by Ms. Headley. Vote: 3-0. 4) ANNOUNCEMENTS 4.A. Historic Preservation Month Activities and Events Ms. Frankel stated that the board ask to keep the meeting at the same time due to issues with a location of the Historic Preservation Board being accommodated. Mr. Saadeh provided the board with action items for the remainder of the month. Mr. Saadeh asked if the Miami Herald could be part of the media and photography aspect of the events. Mr. Saadeh spoke about the tickets sold for the house tours and provided information about the events. Mr. Saadeh talked about the revenues made in sponsorships and provide it to the library. Mr. Bramson spoke about various other cities celebrating centennial homes and how Miami Shores centennial celebration is unique. Chair Ms. Bonaduce spoke about the application for designating 565 grand concourse home and the first colonial style to be brought up for designation in the Village. 5) PUBLIC COMMENT- 2 MINUTE TIME LIMIT 6) DISCUSSION ITEM(S) 6.A . Miami Shores Village Code of Ordinances, Historic Preservation Classification Procedure Sec._11_5._Classification_procedure..docx Ms. Bonaduce, spoke at the meeting explaining the code of ordinances and provided a presentation about the historic homes in Miami Shores Village. Ms. Bonaduce stated that there is a consideration on designating a home by the historic preservation board. Mr. Saadeh stated that it would be wise to have the owner's consent before designating the home. Ms. Bonaduce stated that there is a home that is in danger to demolish and there are a couple that are about to sell and can be in danger to demolish as well. Mr. Saadeh stated that he is not in agreeance with designating 38 houses without the owner's consent. Ms. Frankel stated there is no requirement to have have a demolition come before the planning and zoning board. 6.B. Miami -Dade County Code of Ordinances, Municipal Historic Preservation regulations Sec._16A 3.1.Municipal_Historic_Preservation..docx Ms. Headley appreciated the presentation and feels it is important to save and preserve the homes. Ms. Headley also believes that recommendation to council would probably not go in favor and may have a negative perception. Ms. Headley asked the board if there could be a way to request an ordinance to require shoreland and centennial homes to go before the historic preservation board before getting an approval for a demolition permit. Mr. Bramson will try to meet with the owner and to appreciate the architecture as well as the materials to persuade the owner of the house on 94th to not get demolished. Every demolition for houses 50 years or older to provide a status to the Historic Preservation Board a board member said. Mr. Saadeh stated that he keeps an eye on the planning and zoning board agenda to see if any of the homes being renovated are significantly historic. Mr. Bramson will give status on speaking with the homeowner. Mr. Saadeh will review the planning and zoning board to see if there is anything on the agenda that will be demo and create awareness. 6.C. In the event this agenda must be revised, such revised copies will be available to the public at Village Hall.
