F. .Tsri
® Like all of you, we are disappointed with the condition of the greens and surrounds
® The two consecutive weeks and unseasonably cold and rainy weather significantly contributed
to the problem
® We are making every effort and committing all our resources to improve conditions
® We contracted an agronomist (formerly with the USGA greens section) to review existing
conditions, take soil and tissue samples, review our management practices and make
recommendations to speed up recovery. He recommended that we continue current practices,
fertility program and preventative fungicide applications. Additionally, he recommended that
we raise the height of cut, stop rolling and perform bi-weekly solid tine aerifications
® We have implemented Mr. Lowes recommendations. We ask for your patience as these
recommendations will affect the playability of the greens, which will be slower than what you
are accustomed to. You will see slow but consistent improvements over the next 8 weeks. All
of us are making every effort to provide you with the best possible golf course conditions and
we are sparing no expense in the process
• The current conditions underscore the difficulty of managing pushup greens with poor drainage
and illustrates the need for the golf course renovation and the construction of the greens to
USGA specifications
® Another contributing factor to our challenges is the type of turf. When we planted mini verde
back in 2011 it was the newest and best Bermuda turf hybrid available for greens. And while it
delivers an excellent putting surface, it is prone to mutations. Most other golf courses that have
used mini verde have since removed it and replaced it with the more established tiff eagle
® Handed out a picture — On the left side is a green built to USDA specifications, and the other side
is a picture taken in 2019 of #9 green soil profile which shows the build up of organic material
which impedes percolation; additionally, we face additional challenges in that soil conditions are
not uniform within each green
Mayor Burch —
® We are against the S.F.W.M.D. installing a pump station within the golf course
® We have to get proof to see if S.F.W.M.D. owns the right of way or that they own the land
W. Diggs — We need to move forward with the renovation
B. Griffith —
® Yes, we need to move forward without S.F.W.M.D.
® We cannot give a direct bid to NGF according to the Village Lawyer
® Can we put out a RFQ for the Clubhouse without an exact footprint, we do not want to slow
down the golf course
Village Manager Scott —Yes, we can
® We need to draft the RFQ for the golf course and the clubhouse
® We need to have a management company contract in place by March of 2026
A. Pozzi — Will the RFQ include the professional services of a civil engineer?
Village Manager— It must
B. Diggs — We need to have the RFQ drafted as soon as possible with some options for the clubhouse
design as well as stating that the building and golf course are historical
T. September — We need a historical civil engineer
Councilman Charles — The business will have to pay the bond back
B. Griffith — Our recommendation as a board to Village Council is to put out the RFQ for the golf course
and club house
B. Diggs — 2nd the motion
All in favor
T. Septembre — Include an engineer
Village Manager — Everything that we will need will be part of the RFQ
C. Baetzel — As of now we have 20 teams signed up for the couple's tournament which is scheduled for
February 16th
R. Strickland —the next meeting will be February 26
Meeting ended at 7:12 pm
