1. CALL TO ORDER
Ms. Vignale called the meeting to order at 6:08 PM.
2. ROLL CALL

ALSO PRESENT: Doug Clark (Office of Intergovernmental Affairs).
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Mayor Burch provided comments regarding the importance of involving neighboring municipalities
whose feeder patter includes Miami Shores Elementary to share costs associated with the
implementation of the Cambridge Program. Mayor Burch asked the board to consider his
suggestion given the financial implications.
4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
A. JUNE 20, 2024 MEETING MINUTES
The meeting minutes were not circulated by Ms. Feuer.
5. CONSIDERATIONS:
A. MSES UPDATE PROVIDED BY ADMINISTRATION
Mr. Diaz was not present to deliver his update. However, Village Clerk Rodriguez his statement
into the record, noting the following updates:
- Registration continues to increase. As of yesterday, MSES is at about 610 students.
We’re continuing to positively promote MSES as best as we can.
- Our first Cambridge night is slated for early November. Ms. Nguyen is working on
booking activities for our students.
- In July, it was confirmed that MSES is an A rated school! We’re working on maintaining
the A rating two years in a row, something that has not occurred in about 13 years.
(Wish I had the data with me do include).
- We saw an increase of enrollment of students from Mater (various campuses, not just
Mater at Biscayne), iPrep, and various Montessori schools. Ms. Miller and I recognize
parents that attended our tours.
- During our faculty meeting yesterday, the Proclamation MSES was discussed and
celebrated with our staff. They're thrilled to be recognized by the Village of Miami
Shores.
- PTA is doing a great job in getting parents involved and finding ways to fundraise for the
school. Our back to school dance was a huge success! We're partnering with the owners
of Chick-Fil-A.
B. DISCUSSION REGARDING THE REALTOR PRESENTATION (MSES).
Brief discussion ensued regarding the presentation, noting Mr. Robert Bourne’s comments
regarding the viability of attracting high net worth residents to MSES by way of the presentation.
It was noted that the presentation composed by Ms. Mason was most informative and should be
used to assist realtors gain a better understanding of the captivating perks of MSES.
C. DISCUSSION REGARDING THE FIVE STRATEGIC AREAS OUTLINED IN THE
EDUCATION COMPACT.

iii. Parental Engagement
iv. Communication
v. Facilities Joint-Use Agreement
Ms. Vignale raised the possibility of Miami Shores Village entering into a mutual use agreement
with MDCPS to use the recreation field of Miami Shores Elementary given the condition and
limited space the Village has to accommodate the number of programs. Ms. Vignale proposed
meeting with the Recreation Committee to recommend the idea given their involvement with the
prospective Parks Master Plan.
6. NEW BUSINESS
A. DISCUSSION REGARDING AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK.
Ms. Mason did not recall the fundamental purpose of placing the item on the agenda, but indicated
she would follow-up.
B. GIVE MIAMI DAY-
There was discussion regarding fundraising strategies to assist with Give Miami Day. The board
discussed the possibility of involving all Village Boards and Committees to assist with raising
funds, messaging, social media presence, and the possibility of creating subcommittees to help
with fundraising efforts.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.
