DESIGN GENERAL NOTES:
1. This design is NOT recommended for POOL enclosures. Should the owner decide
upon this design, it shall be at their own risklll The pool enclosure shall have
pickets with a clear spacing reduced to 1-1/2" maximum to meet and qualify for pool
use!!!
2. LOCATION: This design is for AT GRADE railing installations ONLY!! Installations
above grade shall be designed for specific conditions for the location.
3. COMPLIANCE: Design complies with the requirements of the FBC 2017, 6th Edition &
ASCE 7-10, 115 MPH (Category I, 3 second gust), Exposure C.
4. CONNECTION METHODS: Fencing panels (Pickets & Rails) may be either mechanically
(screw) connected using #12 1-1/4" Tek screws or tack welded. Gate frames shall be fully
welded by a certified welder in the shop using 5183 or 4043 filler metal with 1/4" weld all
around.
5. GATES: Gate leaf (single or double) widths can be installed up to the allowable size as
shown in Gate Details. Should a double leaf gate be installed then the Latch and Drop Bolt
shall be installed (per the local requirements).
6. SOIL: All soil around footings shall be 98% optimum density (2,000 psf minimum capacity).
INSTALLATION GENERAL NOTES:
1. POST CONNECTIONS:
a. POST @ GRADE: Anchored in (2,500 psi) concrete per footing schedule.
b. POST @ CONCRETE DECK PLATE / SHOE: Pre -manufactured Aluminum post shoe or
4"x4"x3/16" aluminum plate anchored with (4) 1/4"0 x 3-1/2" tapcons (minimum 3"
embed). Attach shoe to post using (2) #14 x 3/4" SMS.
c. POST @ CONCRETE DECK CORE DRILL: Core concrete deck 3"0 x 3-1/2" and install
post with high strength epoxy grout (10,000 psi minimum).
2. WALL CLIP CONNECTION: (Pre -Manufactured or 2"x2"xl/8" aluminum bent plate)
Aluminum to concrete connections shall be 1/4"0 x 2-1/4" tapcons (min. 1-3/4" embed).
Aluminum to aluminum connections shall be made using (2) #8 x 1" Tek screws per
receiver.
3. RAIL / POST CONNECTION: (1) # 8 x 1" Tek screws or fully welded.
MATERIALS GENERAL NOTES:
1. All aluminum extrusions shall be made of alloy 6063-T6 Alloy (35,000 psi yield) unless
noted otherwise. All fence panels and gates shall be powder coated or factory finished for
corrosion resistance. Aluminum shall NOT be in direct contact with concrete.
2. POOL FENCING ENCLOSURES:
2.1. All gates shall open outward and shall be 48" high and have no opening more than
1/2" within 18" of the latch.
2.2. All hardware used shall be automatically, self -closing and self -latching. Magna Latch
and Lokk bolt shall be used in a pool fencing application with latch location 54" AFF
