Ms. Hasbun spoke about the main events that will be presented to future council meeting, and currently, staff is working with Village Clerk to coordinate a date and time. Ms. Bonaduce stated that some graphic items need to be fixed in page 3. In the May 5th event, it should be titled "The first annual exhibit:" Ms. Bonaduce stated that staff needs to add “the Miami Shores Memorabilia: donate to the library. All Titles in capital and have it in chronological times Correct Mr. to Ms.; Special guest of honors came all over the United States and Mr. Bramson stated to correct the names of all grandchildren. Titles should be in capital letters the sentence in page 4" interior of one awarded winning house was visited by tour participants..." Page 5. Ms. Headley stated to correct "historic house of the month to house of the month".. It should be "historic house of the quarter...” Ms. Hasbun stated that she recalls reactivating this as house of the month during her tenure of being the new planning and zoning director..." Ms. Hasbun stated that it was voted on to reactive house of the month but never pursue it. Ms. Bonaduce stated that the board should have this as a topic of discussion in the next meeting after the summer break. In addition, the reasoning for reactivating the historic house of the month is to bring awareness to the community to celebrate the preservation of historic homes. Ms. Hasbun stated that the best way to go about this would be to provide criteria that is fair and not subjective to the selection from the board. In addition, Ms. Bonaduce stated that this could be part of the newsletter. Ms. Headley stated that no other criteria would be needed besides just celebrating the existing locally or nationally designated homes. Ms. Hasbun stated some examples of what the historic preservation board criteria's can have for the current designated homes. Mr. Bramson stated that the current blue sign of historic home of the month needs to have Miami shores name on there. Ms. Bonaduce stated that this sign was a gift given to the board and at the time of selecting this proposal for house of the month, the sign was never official and more of a conceptual design. Ms. Headley stated that this could be re- designed. Ms. Hasbun re-reiterated to add a discussion on September meeting for house of the month and redesign the signage. Mr. Bramson stated that the sentence of the "Centennial year of all...” needs to be corrected and the second item should say "built, not build...” Ms. Bonaduce stated that this is an event for a "centennial houses for the time frame..." Mr. Saadeh stated that this should be celebrating the "shoreland company not the centennial houses..." Mr. Saadeh stated that this should be accurate to the idea of what is being celebrated... “Ms. Bonaduce stated that this is just brainstorming ideas for different events. The year of 2024 would be the first year of centennial year and all 1920 houses. Mr. Bramson stated that he apologizes for not attending the previous meetings. Mr. Bramson asked for the participation of the board members to include the original name of Miami Shores as the town of Miami Shores in North Miami. Ms. Hasbun asked for a motion for the board to approve the report with the corrections made by staff. Motion to approve with corrections by Mr. Bramson, Seconded by Ms. Headley. 4-0. Mr. Bachay presented to the board an image of a possible historic small plaque to present during the criteria of awarding the exceptional effort of preserving the centennial homes. HPB 2022 Report V1.pdf 3 4) DISCUSSION ITEM(S) 5.A Mary Benton Historic Gardens Discussion Ms. Bonaduce motion to table until she is able to attend. 5.B Plaque Ceremony Date for: October 27, 2023 230 NE 94th ST. Ms. Hasbun gave the board a sample of one of the plaques. Ms. Bonaduce stated she would prefer to wait to give the plaque to member till October 27, 2023. Motion to set plaque for September 14, 21, 25-28 by Ms. Headley, seconded by Mr. Bramson. 3-1 5.C Creating of Fact-Finding Teams: Events for 2024 There is a need to coordinate all events, obtaining grants, and having one meeting a month is not enough to organize and the suggestion is to have f act-finding teams and each team member will report what information is obtain to organize these events, stated Ms. Hasbun. Max amount of members who can be part of the fact-finding teams can be three. Mr. Saadeh stated that he could come up with the fact-finding team items to present in the next meeting to have as part of the next discussion. Mr. Saadeh asked if Ms. Hasbun brought up to council a budget request to council which Ms. Hasbun stated that Ms. Bonaduce and Mr. Bachay agreed to speak to council during the budget meeting requesting 10k for the future events. Ms. Hasbun showed the board a grant for the events in 2024 and an application to get funding for these events. 6) NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING- SEPTEMBER 20th, 2023 7) ADJOURNMENT- 7:48 by Ms. Bonaduce The board may consider and act upon such other business as may come before it. In the event this agenda must be revised, such revised copies will be available to the public at Village Hall.
