July Meeting Minutes were approved
A. Pozzi -
• Completed our summer maintenance program on the golf course
• We verticut the fairways and took a lot of grass, they will not be pretty for 2 to 3 weeks
• We will open the golf course tomorrow, September 29 in the afternoon, so we can give it a
chance to dry out a little
• There is a lot of debris on the course
• We are in the middle of membership billing; we still have quite a few memberships to renew
• Once we have contacted all current members, then we will open to the waiting list
• In the next couple weeks, we will be remodeling the pro shop
• In the middle of October, we are going to renovate the golf course bathrooms, one at a time
New Business:
A. Pozzi —
• Food cost has increased significantly
• Fuel costs are down, fertilizer costs have stabilized but still 15 to 25% higher than last year
• We are anxious about our property insurance renewal because we do not know the cost for the
new year. Miami Beach had an increase of 35% in their insurance policy renewal
• The restaurant is doing very well, and the banquet business is coming back
B. Griffith —
• The taco night went very well and has heard very good comments
• Why do some of the greens have patches?
A. Pozzi —
• There is mutation of the mini verde grass
• Certain times of the year it is more evident and others they are very hard to spot
• The greens are 11 years old, and the average life of greens is 15 to 16 years. Our greens are not
built to USGA specs which makes their management more challenging
